Thank Goodness for Evan Grant
As much as we complain about Evan Grant, it seems that we have no idea how good we have it.
Take this douche from Seattle, for example and his attempt to get into a posting war with the giant Mariners Blogosphere. I understand that we, as fans, are not privy to the inner-workings of a clubhouse like beat reporters are, but talk about being a sanctimonious prick.
Dave from USS Mariner has this to say .
If Evan Grant, Richard Durret or Jeff Wilson or any of the other beat writers are reading, some input into the situation would be much appreciated.

I agree
that it is refreshing that Grant and the FWST guys are as inclusive of this community as they are. They are obviously smart enough to recognize that a good relationship between active message boards and blogs benefit their online activity as well, which this goof ball doesn’t seem to be.

Do we complain about Grant?
If so, we shouldn’t. As far as baseball beat writers go, he’s very good. And very supportive of LSB, Newberg, and informed Rangers fans in general.

I think he's referring to Evan's role in "Douchebag-Gate" this Spring
The whole stupid controversy where we lost Siege as a contributor here that had everyone all hot and bothered in their man-parts.

Yep...
there were a lot of pissed off LSBers blaming Grant for BGL leaving here.
The complaints about Grant haved slowed down quite a bit since then.

I stand by my complaint
but I also rarely complain about EG’s work, especially compared to all other DFW writers.

Agreed
Evan Grant is the golden standard of Rangers beat writers right now.

Well, when he's not hyping Ramon Vazquez, anyway
But I agree, I usually like his stuff.

You guys and gals are too kind
Wow what nice words from y’all. Thanks so much. You guys have an awesome community here and it’s great to read the various well-thought-out opinions here (and the knee-jerk ones, too). Thanks for reading and thanks for all your input.
As for the Seattle situation, I’d just say this: I don’t think it makes much sense to attack readers. If somebody wants to be really nasty, well, I just don’t reply. But to fire back at people is not a wise move. I’m happy for the interaction I have with y’all and grateful that the LSB and NMLR communities are mostly civil places. I’m never even tempted to write a hateful screed directed at readers. I know my opinions and my analysis is not the definitive answer to any argument. There is no definitive answer to any argument on baseball, which is what makes arguing baseball so awesomely awesome.
Anyway, I gotta get back to the game. Rangers taking it on the chin tonight. Tough night for Doug Mathis. Hope y’all will keep reading and keep writing (and, if you want, please continue to say nice things).
I think that’s the first time the statement: “Thank Goodness for Evan Grant” has ever been uttered, but it sure feels nice to read it.

Your self-deprecation
is part of your charm. The DMN blog is probably one of the better ones run by a major paper, all things considered, especially now that Tim has settled down a bit.

I think his charm is saying Awesomely Awesome.
I have a special affinity for that phrase.

Thanks for all the input
I think this line
"I know my opinions and my analysis is not the definitive answer to any argument. There is no definitive answer to any argument on baseball, which is what makes arguing baseball so awesomely awesome."
Is really the difference between the DFW beat writers, yourself especially, and a lot of the other beat writers for other papers.

Hey, thanks Evan!

Evan deserves this page!
Wow, I just came across this site. Super to see somebody giving about kudos to a writer who deserves them I can’t stand most of the sportswriters in this area, but I read Evan even when he has to write about the crappiest team in baseball. He is smart AND funny. His mid-season roundups are always imaginative. No wonder he won Texas Sportswriter of the Year last year. AND NO, I am not his mother OR sister OR wife. Rock on.

not a mother, sister, or wife
doesn’t mean they aren’t a relative ;)

Grant is Great
I disagree with him sometimes but he’s passionate and fair and usually interesting. I think we’re very lucky to have him.
