Do you remember

Corey Feldman’s awkward, “Dangerous” era Michael Jackson fashion phase? It made a lot of people very uncomfortable.

How do you reward a guy who

when 2-4 with a GS and BB?

By benching him.

It's the lefty matchup...

Laird OPS vs. LHP: .823
Salty OPS vs. LHP: .393

by Desert Ranger on May 24, 2008 5:44 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

OPS of .393 in 14 at-bats.

by coolaid on May 24, 2008 5:49 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

True

But career (only 139 PA, still small sample size issue) he’s at .600 OPS. Laird’s in 316 PA is at .816. We need all the help we can get against C. Lee.

by Desert Ranger on May 24, 2008 5:56 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well.....

.....in that case Laird will be catching Sunday and Monday too. I wouldnt mind (if they insist on platooning) seeing Laird against LHP and Salty against ALL RHP. LOL

consider we face two more lefties in the next 2 days

and laird is getting those….

eh… 2 for 2 is supposed to let them get a few at bats in a row. i dont like subbing him.

Yeah

Just when Salty was seeming to find his rythm, he’s gonna have 3 days off… all I have to say is he better get three consecutive days on next week.

Lineup

Ian Kinsler, 2B

Michael Young, SS

Josh Hamilton, CF

Milton Bradley, DH

David Murphy, LF

Gerald Laird, C

Marlon Byrd, RF

Chris Shelton, 1B

German Duran, 3B

What happen to the catcher 2 game rotation? Also, I would rather have Boggs in the line up than Murphy against a tough lefty. Is Murphy going to ever get a day off?

Bummer

I just saw the end of that game. The Angels offense really seems to suck, I hardly ever see them scoring more and 2-4 runs a game lately.

Unfortunately, their pitching has been lights out this year, with guys like Saunders and Ervin Santana overperforming.

CLE announcers said

Bradley pointed at the scoreboard and told the ump, “Look at my numbers! I don’t swing at pitches like that; that’s not a strike!” before he got tossed.

So it is no longer a double error?

One on Kinsler and then the followup error by Byrd?

by Hubris on May 24, 2008 6:49 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Still two errors

but since the lead off was a double, even if Kisnler would have fielded it and got an out, the runner at second base moves to third, and would have scored during the inning anyway making it an earned run. The runs that score from this point forward if there are any will result in unearned runs because there would be three outs without the error. So only one run will be earned whatever happens now.

Bradley

Part of the sell to these players that they sign these one year contracts to is that: 1)They are definitely going to play for a contender this year be it by a trade in the summer to a contending team or be it by the Rangers if they so happen to be in the mix and 2)If they have to trade the player in the summer due to not being in contention themselves, they are definitely interested in them re-signing with them the following year if things go right.

If something happens down the road and the team his better served by him catching up to an 88 MPH fastball, there will be dscussions. But the time is not now, and he doesn’t see it in the near future.

that's drive's a lot longer...

...when you’re sent back down.

Sabathia's

touchable at least. Lee gave up 2 runs in 6.1 IP and that is considered a bad day for him

by Gdawg on May 24, 2008 8:48 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

take another angle...

...it’s not Sabathia you should be concerned about.

it’s Doug Mathis.

Mathis will get the Rangers

4th CG tomorrow, count on it

Phi@Hou

What a finish. Philly had men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs, Brocail got a shallow pop out for out one then an IBB, then a fly to left field and the throw home got the man from third at the plate for a double play to end the game.

Mathis goes 4.1 tomorrow...

...anybody care to take the over?

The Good News?
Winds blowing out to center field at 5-10 m.p.h

That’s the forecast for tomorrow. Also a forecast: Hammy and Milton launch a bunch of balls into the center field seats

Ya....That's Real Mature.

Harrsion

My deep feelings for him aside, I just don’t think he will miss enough bats to be anything more than a back of the rotation starter at the major league level.

I think we tend to overvalue some of our prospects. I just don’t think the Rangers have any top of the rotation prospects above Low A. We seem to be collecting a plethora of middle/back of the rotation arms. Not necessarily a bad thing but considering the limited amount of rotation spots available, I think we should accept the fact the most of these kids aren’t going to be what we think they are going to be. At least not as Rangers.

well if hes overrated

wasnt it as a braves prospect? he was listed as their best pitching prospect.

here he hasnt really gotten a lot of attention.

Its just because he has been injured, he has been under the radar…

Yeah, that's a good point

Although if we can compile a rotation of a bunch of young guys who can be solid #3 starters, and then add on an ace or two via trade or free agency, it won’t really be a bad thing.

As long as guys like Harrison and Hurley can develop into solid mid-rotation starters, I for one will be happy to call them a success, and await the arrival of the higher-ceiling guys like Main and Feliz.

Concur...

although he may be the pitching version of Botts/Cruz.

I would give him another shot before I called Mathis or Mendoza back up.
