It's baseball. You don't always get what you want, and you don't always want what you get. --Ed Coffin
well, 4 pitches later there are 3 outs
ill just say it transferred threads.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
Reading back thru the last thread...
I continue to be amazed at how many people get mad because Ron Washington doesn’t run out there and get ejected when there’s a bad call.
He should have gotten ejected this time
I think we can all agree the Hamilton call was bullshit.

I'm not that pissed at him for not getting ejected
but how does the 3B umpire not get inolved in the discussion to eject him.
I think the wrong ump
throwing out your best hitter merits a bigger argument than Wash gave that time around.
that wind is knocking everything down
i thought for sure that was a double and it ended up not even close.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
I really need to dump DSL
Phone call kicks me off the internet… yes, the filters are installed correctly
DSL
i know you say the filters are installed right, but have you tried replacing the filters.
this really does sound like a bad filter somewhere, or bad internal wiring.

i know its cc sabathia
but man, 1 run out of mathis and the bullpen through 8 1/3 (9 please) and we dont have the win in line… ouch.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
What did you expect?
Its the current Cy young winner

Well, if it weren't for the stinking wind
We might have a homer or two…

I don’t see how that’s a wild pitch.

Yeah
Wasn’t thinking about the count there. At 1-2, you pitch to him, but don’t throw him a strike.

Egh...
I’m talking myself into a loss here.
“Carmona, Lee, Sabathia… come on, we were supposed to get swept!”
We still have CJ in our pocket so
If we can get out of this inning, id say we have 2 more good chances to bat
by SaltyGoesYard on May 25, 2008 2:50 PM CDT up reply actions
Especially with...
...Gabbard, Feldman and Mathis pitching for us.
by Adam J. Morris on May 25, 2008 2:50 PM CDT up reply actions
but maybe not actually a strike...
3-1… hafner behind… i guess youve still got to pitch to him.
sigh, this is looking dicey.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
if it hadnt been righty-righty
i would have agreed though. francisco is on fire. at least until today.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
We just gotta get smiley here out
He’s been killing us all series.

well salty got bailed out
would have had to blame him for this game.
hopefully he manages to get on base this inning…
Gerald Laird is my hero.
stuff wasnt overly impressive
but he avoided the middle of the plate, which he distinctly did not do last time.
2nd inning he loaded them with 1 out i believe but got out of it. after that it was pretty smooth sailing.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
Seemed like his sinker wasn’t going for strikes early so the Injuns just sat on his FB and raked.
Sinker came around and things started looking up for him.
Am I the only one
Who distinctly wants to punch Kobayashi’s gameday pic in the face?

me of that Adrian Gonzalaz walk a few years ago on opening day…

Maybe it's poetic justice
after what the umps have done to us. Let’s win another series!

Indy 50 update
spoilers – get it?
3:50 ET—Through 145 laps, here’s the top 10: Dixon, Andretti, Scheckter, Meira, Castroneves, Hunter-Reay, Patrick, Briscoe, Servia, Wheldon.
That run in the 10th
couldn’t possibly be an earned run, could it?
That was a two base error, then he got the next guy out.
My stupid fantasy team is showing Kobayashi with an ER.
The 40 trumps all!!!
Um, of course
but I was just wondering on the scoring rules of an earned run versus and unearned run.

That statement based on...
...what I heard from my Dad’s third wife. She lived in Cleveland all her life and hated it.
However, she was also a manipulative, money-grubbing whore who filed fraudulent medical claims, so it’s possible that her assessment of the city was incorrect.

Seems like this team is always right below .500
yet always winning 2 out of 3… Nice to finish the series at .500
'Toine's will never be topped.

WOW.
I really feel good about this win since it was an afternoon game and against a really tough lefty.
I would like to thank Smiley Francisco for this victory

wait wait
the rangers suck, booooooooooooooooooo cheap win we were gifted it. bgl got lucky, mathis is god awful.
got to appease my negativity fans.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
.500
This team is playing so well right now that I’m starting to not be happy with just being at .500. We took 2 out of 3 from Cleveland only losing one game against the guy with the best ERA in the AL. I can live with that.
Well, we got a gift today
But after all the games we have lost in this fashion it’s nice to get one back.

Now if we can get a game against the Rays
and finish this tough road trip at .500, I’d happily take that
Yeah
Here’s what I said about this game:
Doug Mathis goes today against CC Sabathia – I hate to be negative, but all I really have to say is, it will be a small miracle if we win this game.
Well, we pulled out the miracle.
A Lonestar in California - 2.0
"I LOVE to fart" - Bert Blyleven
agreed
i was hopeful against carmona with gabbard (not that he panned out) and a righty who has been walking guys on the mound.
lee v feldman… punchers chance given indians struggling lineup and feldmans decent run. didnt work out.
sabathia v mathis…. had like 5% hope. hurrah.
definitely happy with 2 for 3.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
Sweet win
I was ready to throw in the towel on Mathis after an inning and 2/3, but he got out of trouble in the second and really did a great job of keeping us in it. CC was butt nasty today and we still won.
Yay!
The 40 trumps all!!!
Meanwhile...
...the M’s blow a 3 run 8th inning lead to lose 6-5 to the Yanks.
I predict Bavasi and McLaren are both fired tomorrow.
I'd been following the situation there and thought the duo would last until after the draft
But after today… dunno.
and the hated washburn actually gave them a decent start
and the loved putz blew it.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
She was leaving pit row, still in the race,
when some guy hit her car, knocking her out of the race. She got out and started walking determinedly down pit row, obviously wanting to get to the guy. Indy officials blocked her off and escorted her to her Honda tent. Very good theater.
II Cor. 4:17-18
She isn't
hot.
"We will look back in 20 years, and say that Clayton Kershaw was one of the best pitchers of all time" - me
Plus Juan
She’s so completely and totally average in every way. It’s a borderline national tragedy that she’s considered attractive.

I think the fascination with her is
She’s an indycar driver, and guys like the thought of an indycar driver they can bang. But beyond that, she’s not really hot at all.

This win feels like...
finding 20 bucks just laying in the street.
We are facing a ton of above average pitchers, and we still have our head above water. What happens when we get to face some spare pitchers?
Knowing the Rangers?
We probably blow some winnable games when our luck goes the other way.
I know, I know. I’m just trying to stop myself from getting my hopes up so I don’t put myself in the hospital when the breaks stop going our way.
No, this win feels like finding 5 bucks just laying in the street
and when you pick it up, it says “you want to know where I buried my gold”?
Guess it just goes to show you
that if you throw strikes, even the best hitters will make an out 70 percent of the time.
the rotation has really been pretty bad lately
few gems like today (kind of) and ponson, but a lot of bad starts too.
team just has it in sync in general right now. win 13-9, 2-1.

davis got in today
0-1 in a pinch hit, but hey… now hes played in AAA, callup time =p

So...
Doesn’t this make 9 straight series that we’ve either won or split?

by the way
please dont start murph tomorrow. let him have the first 6+ innings off until kazmir is out of the game. we are hurting his ROTY campaign starting him against cy young lefties.

He could use a day off anyway. The poor boys been used and abused and he’s not amused.

I hate cheering for the White Sox
But I had to smile when Quentin launched that HR in the bottom of the 9th off Lackey.
Four games back looks good.
Also, anyone see the highlights from that 18 inning Reds-Padres game. The teams used 18 pitchers as well. Yikes.
good solid win
behind good solid pitching
