"that suzuki guy should go back to making cars" - My girlfriend after C.J.'s close in game 2
The Rays announcers can't figure out why Crawford isn't running
I’m guessing it’s the Earl Weaver method… walk, walk, 3-run HR
If Padilla doesn't throw a strike
He might as well just bean Pena. You know he wants to and he might as well make the walk count
this has got to be one of the longest at-bats
of my life
"that suzuki guy should go back to making cars" - My girlfriend after C.J.'s close in game 2
Rays announcers
Bitching about Padilla’s pace. Said one time between Salty sending the ball to Padilla to the time Pena called for time was 30 seconds.
What happened to my old signature?
Kind of wish Laird was behind the mound today
No offense to Salty, but he’s no Laird at throwing runners out
If he was behind the mound, Salty would have to be catching anyway...
sorry, had to… no choice

there was no chance whatsoever to throw out crawford
the mistake was throwing it, not failing to throw him out.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
false
im listening to the game while surfing the net with a tv on behind me. i turn when something interesting happens.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
I dont get
what Eric Nadel’s opinion had to do anything here. Interjecting Nadel’s opinion doesn’t prove anything.
I though he could have gotten Crawford if he got rid of the ball quickly.
Because it was on the exact subject being argued?
are you kidding me?
for one thing, the “I win” thing was a freaking sarcastic joking remark. But there is nothing at all wrong with throwing out what nadel thought.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
the non nadel response
it was a changeup. crawford is fast. the batter struck out and stepped in front of the plate blocking salty a bit.
he was a little slow, but its unikely laird throws him out either.
lairds % is a lot better than saltys, but its .333 not .500
Gerald Laird is my hero.
I really didn't see the need to even throw down there
With Crawford running and Salty behind the plate.
A Lonestar in California - 2.0

IDK
Laird would of thrown the ball a lot quicker than Salty. Salty didn’t seem to be concerned enough with Crawford running while Laird seems pretty aware at all times when there is a potential SB threat.
Well
With one out, I don’t think that’s really a bad thing – you’ve gotta focus on the guy at the plate especially when it’s Pena. You can live with a guy on second an 2 out, but you gotta get Pena.
A Lonestar in California - 2.0
"I LOVE to fart" - Bert Blyleven
yeah
And I don’t know that Laird gets him out either, but that is just a bit of a concern with Salty that has been developing over watching him catch. He seems to do a good job with everything but the one thing that Laird does exceptionally for a catcher. Funny how that works out.
Maybe we just need to amputate Laird's arm
And attach it to Salty, eh? ;)

hard to throw someone out

directv blackouts
what a punch in the nuts. my last post was “eaten” halfway through being written when the web site automatically refreshed/updated whatever…
the re-write was not allowed b/c sometime during my re-write the thread was closed…
thumbs down…
anyway, directv will show fox sports broadcasts UNLESS they conflict with a local broadcast (in theory). so from my home in so cal I should be able to watch texas play on fox sports southwest UNLESS they were playing LAA and the game was being shown on fox sports west here locally.
that was then, this is now…
with the arrival of mlb extra innings and the nba package, the games ARE shown "locally" on the pay-per-view season package, creating a conflict and causing a blackout.
not exactly blacked out
i have mlb package, but i am limited (on this game) to the tb coverage (same as 634 fox sports florida).
usually, i have 2-4 channel choices: tex feed and opponent feed and sometimes one or both of those in hd.
i guess b/c it is kdfi directv only has one feed (and no hd) tonight.
i am watching 733.
i pay extra for ALL fox stations, but as i mentioned, the fox sports southwest broadcasts are usually (always) blacked out here. i watch the tex feed on mlb extra innings package which is same as fox sports southwest.

satly
has a decent arm but he looks slower than piazza on the trasnfer and throw to second.
hah...
vernon wells is at the game…
that’s a little odd. I know he’s a friend of MY, and they play in Dunedin in the spring, but DL players are usually with the team, on the bench, right?
"that suzuki guy should go back to making cars" - My girlfriend after C.J.'s close in game 2
damn
looks like the bullpen will have to be pretty good tonight
padilla
i know the pitch count is decent and im usually all for letting the starter out there as long as possible but i prolly wouldnt have had him come out for the 6th.
It would make it a lot easier....
to quit F’n walking the leadoff batter with 4 pitches!!!
jeez…freaking crazy latino!
Padilla basically intentionally walked Cliff Floyd right here

Offense?
It doesn’t matter if the 7 runs come in the first inning, the first two innings, or whenever; if the offense scores 7 runs then they should win the game.
When Padilla is removed,
there won’t be one single dissatisfied person in the stadium

thinking that too
but I think that Cat didn’t have enough time to think about and took the sure thing of going for the guy at second than try to get the guy at home and possibly have 2 men on base with no outs
bring in a reliever now
with no one on base and a clean slate
WOOT WOOT!!
Not the prettiest start, but a nice 10 Ks and 6 IP from Padilla and the Rangers still have the lead. You only need to pitch better than the other guy and Padilla did that.
+1
10 K’s but 7 hits, 4 walks and 5 ER… that’s not exactly a successful start.
A Lonestar in California - 2.0
"I LOVE to fart" - Bert Blyleven
He got himself in a lot of trouble
but the times where it was actually relatively low risk was the time he gave up the most runs. Both HRs came with a guy on 1st and at least 1 out. Yet he is able to get out of a 1st and 3rd with no outs situation with less damage. Interesting start
10 K's
he’ll leave 1 shy of his career high.
not quite as impressive as the kasmir game. but 5 earned runs in 6 innings ain’t terrible. neither is a 1.833 whip
