Blalock has surgery, out at least 4 weeks

Busy Friday afternoon, Rangers news-wise...

Per the DMN blog, Hank Blalock has had surgery on his wrist, and will be out a minimum of 4 weeks.

Supposedly, when Franklyn German was DFA'd to make room for Kam Loe, the Rangers would have dropped Chris Shelton instead (because Blalock was expected to be activated in a couple of days), had it not been for the fact that Frank Catalanotto's back was bothering him.  Think they dodged a bullet there?

This also means that Blalock could end up getting moved to the 60 day d.l. to make room for Nelson Cruz, should the Rangers opt to send Brandon Boggs back down and take one last look at Cruz.

Damn

poor Hambonita.

Dodged a bullet? Heh, more like dodged an A-Bomb!

...it's the weekend, so why the hell not?

Hey AJM

you should put up a Minors thread in the main section since there are 6 games (2 DH) and Feliz and Castillo going for Clinton.

the 40-man...

has like 38 guys on it. There’s already room for Cruz or whoever…

Tejeda is 39

Diamond gets activated from the 60 day d.l. soon, and he’ll be 40.

Cruz

A thread the other day made the case for swapping Nelson for Boggs, and I hope it happens.

Id really like to get a good last chance look on both Tejeda and Cruz,

If at least one of them turns out reliable down the stretch, them Im a happy camper. I mean come on, their minor league #’s are pretty solid.

60 day DL

From what I understand the 60 day isn’t retroactive so if they put him on it wouldn’t it have to be 60 days from today? If he’s only gonna be out 4 weeks wouldn’t that be a bit much?

Is it unrealistic to think that the FOTF will man up to help this team, yet again,

and make his move to third very easy? I think he will if it comes down to it. Im not sure if I’d like the shift of Vazquez and Young though. But it would make his transition over to third smoothly it would seem.

why would you move him before you have a replacement?

you are really going to tell young he is moving to third for ramon vazquez?

Interestingly

Duran’s at SS in OKC tonight.

I both love and hate how they're using Duran...

I mean, we have NO place for him to play in the future if we consider Kinsler staying at 2B, Young or Andrus staying at SS for a long time, and if Andrus at SS then Young at 3B. Duran has a future…and I hope it’s with this team, not as part of a trade. Unless that trade is Salty/Teagarden, Duran and a lower level pitching prospect for a sure-thing young Ace.

However, as a Mark DeRosa super-sub type player, I guess I like what they’re doing…and it’s certainly increasing his value.

You know what I think?

I think the real Hank Blalock is dead, and the Rangers are trying to convince everyone otherwise until the imposter that they have paid to have surgically altered to look like Hank is healed.

Same thing with Brandon McCarthy.

so Hank Blalock is Caster Troy...

and McCarthy’s Travolta?

Boggs

should stay with the club. Cruz is a bust. Cruz is AAAA player.

unless Cruz finally learned patience at the plate...

which it seems at least he might have. he DEFINITELY deserves another shot…although I agree with you about Boggs, it shouldn’t be at his expense.
