millwood being good
would be a confidence boost for this team.. please be good millwod.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
confidence
I think the way this club has played the last month and especially the last road trip facing some of the pitchers they faced their confidence is fine right now. Millwood returning to his beginning of the year form would only help this club out.
the offense's confidence should be fine
but we are last or next to last in every pitching category.

BREAKING NEWS, BREAKING NEWS
JOBA IS GOING TO START TUESDAY!
how do I know that? ESPN thinks it’s significant enough to put on the bottomline.
Line-up
Kinsler, 2B
Young, SS
Hamilton, CF
Bradley, RF
Murphy, LF
Laird, C
Catalanotto, DH
Shelton, 1B
Vazquez, 3B
Good to see MOB in RF.
I knew that line-up
was too good to be true. The real line-up:
1. Ian Kinsler
2. Frank Catalanotto
3. Michael Young
4. Josh Hamilton
5. David Murphy
6. Gerald Laird
7. Brandon Boggs
8. Chris Shelton
9. Ramon Vazquez
wow just switched it over to that game

I'm especially excited to watch this game.
I finally bought a VGA cable to connect the trusty notebook to my plasma.

Don't forget

ive voted 50 times
ive done my part.
although its kind of meaningless since the only one who has a chance to start is hamilton. kinsler will just end up getting put on the team by the manager or something.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
Well I have 6 e-mails
I’ve burned out 1 of them and will be finishing the second off in this game and hopefully more. Then, I’ll probably go and use friends and families. I’ll get Kinsler starting if I have to create another 100 e-mails.

One time at a game
I saw Jim Knox walking through the park muttering very angrily under his breath. Perhaps he was speaking into his mic but it was still strange.
Judging by the story I've heard from a close friend who has dealt with Knoxie before
I can’t say that’s any great surprise.

I thought today’s game was in “glorious HD”. Oh wait, FSN’s HD sucks.

I like this ump so far
He’s making quick strike counts and not waiting and thinking about it for 10 seconds
Not that time
He was shaded over toward right. But yeah overall he does play pretty shallow. But I guess with his kind of speed you can a fford to do that
not that.
The pace of that ball after it hit the grass seemed like the ball hit off of a hard surface.
ah...misread it.
Yeh, that ball had some top spin on it or something.

I’ve already come around to the fact that he’ll probably never amount to anything in the Majors since no team is going to give a 28 year old guy who hasn’t played more than a handful of games above AAA a solid shot. Its sad, but not much can be done about it.

Volquez against the Braves
6 IP, 5 hits, 2 ER, 3 BBs, 7 Ks, 102 pitches
Dusty sent him out in the 7th inning with 100 pitches and he gave up a double to the first batter which sent him out of the game and that batter later came around to score on a DP. Dusty is going to kill Edinson’s career.

That post...
...was about the stupidity of sac bunting, not for bunting for a base hit.
by Adam J. Morris on May 30, 2008 8:27 PM CDT up reply actions
which is what most of the bunt complaints are about anyway.
but why is there a problem with not liking attempting bunt hits unless its a guy who has had legitimate success doing it? like laird. i dont complain when he tries it.
although i wasnt going to complain about vazquez doing it, given the pitcher is doing well generally.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
I think it is dumb...
...to bitch about a guy like Vazquez trying to bunt for a hit.
And there was bitching a couple of days ago when Kinsler tried to bunt for a hit with a runner on second and one out, with proclamations that this was Ron Washington’s stupidity for trying to bunt a runner over to third with one out already in place.
Bitch about sac bunts. That’s fine.
Complaining about guys occasionally trying to bunt for a hit, and saying it is the pernicious influence of bunt-loving Ron Washington, is silly.

Oh, and Kinsler bunting for a hit with a runner on second and one out was stupid
IMO, bunting for hits should be reserved for guys like Laird or Vazquez, and reserved for occasions when there are no RISP.
A Lonestar in California - 2.0
"I LOVE to fart" - Bert Blyleven
Because Kinsler is a good hitter
And when you’ve got a RISP, the objective is supposed to be to plate him, not to simply get on base yourself.

"I LOVE to fart" - Bert Blyleven
Should players try to
...avoid walking with RISP?
by Adam J. Morris on May 30, 2008 8:39 PM CDT up reply actions
Bunting for a hit
Is not, in any way, similar to walking.
Walking with RISP involves laying of pitches that are not hittable. Bunting for a hit involves trying to lay down a perfect bunt, and taking a strike, or being thrown out if you fail. It’s risky, and is most of the time going to be a waste of an out.
To conclude: it’s stupid to bunt for a hit with a man on second and one out. Nobody out, well, maybe I could see that. But with one out, no way.

Personally
I have no problem with bunting for a hit most of the time and don’t blame Washington for that. I just don’t think Vazquez trying to bunt for a hit there is the right move. I think Vazquez has been doing a good job of hitting recently and that they should try riding that as much as they can
That was all Vazquez there
Did you see when he was walking back to the dugout he looked to me like he said “I saw something” to the 1B coach. He probably saw the 3B playing back and has been told, like others, that if you think you can do it go ahead.
I agree he has been our hottest hitter so he shouldn’t have been doing it but if it was his call there really is nothing to get upset about
you act like every time 2 or 3 comments are made
that the entire site believes the same thing.

I wish Millwood wasn’t on a pitch limit. He could possibly get another cheap CG with the way he’s pitched today
He's been up and down
and been able to get some quick innings. And it wouldn’t be a guarantee, but it would be interesting to watch. Millwood can go past 110 pitches usually so if he’s got his stuff working and isn’t just off the DL, it could have gotten interesting.
