Back to .500. I seem to be typing that quite a bit lately.
Terrific night for Kevin Millwood. Richard Durrett notes that he only had one 3-ball count all night -- to Emil Brown, the final batter he faced. And he threw a first pitch strike to 16 of the 23 batters he faced.
Jeff Wilson says that the groin injury may end up helping him, as it caused him to adjust his delivery in a way that Millwood believes improves his command.
Wilson and Anthony Andro each field five questions on the state of the Rangers.

Millwood
Looked really good last night. He was able to rely on the fastball, and when he went to his curve the bats were missing it. Of course, that liberal strike zone was certainly helping him.
I can’t wait to get out of work and go to my first game since opening day. Go Rangers!
Joe Morgan: (On Jay Bruce) I think he will. He brings energy to the team, and besides that, he is a pretty good hitter.
Ken Tremendous: I like that the #1 reason he will help his team is: "energy," and the distant #2 reason is: "ability to hit baseballs."
Strike Zone
I was at the game sitting almost parallel to the catcher on the 3B side. The strike zone was definitely very generous last night. I can’t remember which A’s hitter it was but his first three times up he struck out looking on all somewhat questionable strikes.
White Women!
Generous...
But consistant. Really thats all you can ask for from an ump. As long as he is calling those strikes a little wide all night both the hitters and the pitchers know it.
Yeah, not bitching
It was helping both pitchers.

I don't believe he was DFA'd
I believe he was activated from the d.l. and put on waivers earlier in the week. He cleared waivers yesterday, and was outrighted.

OK
I guess I missed it when they put him on waivers.

The Rangers...
will finally get over .500 today.

I never thought I’d see a real Jedi. Hamilton’s eyes-closed grand slam has convinced me that he is a Jedi. He’s not a freak of nature. He’s not a natural. He’s a Jedi.

Not sure if we can win this one.

Good luck with all that.

Wilson gives
JD a C for the team hovering around .500 all season? Did the guy just have really, really high expectations for this team or is he just an idiot.
Yeah
I was thinking the same thing. The Rockies doing what they did sucks for teams like us because if we don’t pull one of those kind of runs out of our ass, we’re losers, because “If Colorado can do it why can’t we?”
I thought we’d finish 2 or 3 games over/under .500 and so far they’ve succeeded in doing so. Not the way I envisioned, but still. Then you factor in all the time missed by our starting day probables (Milly, McCarthy, Hank, Gabbard, Mendoza) plus vetting guys like Broussard, Botts, Jennings, Shelton, Ponson, Feldman-as-starter, PLUS introducing kids like Boggs, Duran, Mendoza (briefly) and Feldman and it just shows that this team has done well under adverse circumstances. A C+ is too low and screw you, Wilson, for that condescending + for the minors’ performance. This year’s minors performance should raise JD’s grade a full letter grade. I give JD an A
JD gets
a C- from me.

Hilarious...
JD gets a B from me. Some great moves like Hamslam, Board Game, and Ponson.
Also some meh moves like Broussard, Fuku, JJ. The positives far outweigh the negatives though.

OT- I was looking at the expanded standings page on MLB
and saw the 0-10 for the Royals in their last ten. I knew about their streak, but it still put back a little bit to see out like that. ouch.
Danks, Volquez, Galarraga and Young are GONE! GET OVER IT! Endless whining will not bring them back!
that can't be right
trey hillman is their manager. he has never managed a losing team ever.

I seem to remember some...
LSB Wash haters and Hillman lovers saying the Royals would have a better record than the Rangers this year. Anyone still want to try and take that position?

No, but I'm still not backing down from the fact that Wash sucks

We can't
be .500% after this homestand…11 game stand we are 1-0. We have to finish this homestand 7-4 at the worst in my opinion.
They've got to take at least 2 in every series.
It would be great if they sweep the A’s.
