The fattest pitching matchup in baseball today, folks...
I hope they’ve reinforced the pitching mound with a few titanuim rods.

Tonight the Rangers get above .500 folks
Mark it down…

Does anyone else find it a little odd
That after Sidney Ponson gives up 12 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings his last outing, that he is the pitcher the Rangers choose to keep on regular rest?
I’m afraid I have sense of foreboding about this start…
I do
But Ponson is Ponson, I have a sense of foreboding before every one of his starts.

Historically
Sidney has pitched better with less rest.

byrd hasnt been too bad since he came back
honestly perfromance wise I dont think it really matters.
but boggs is the young guy who may have a future role with the team, so sure.
Gerald Laird is my hero.
Crosses fingers
We better win tonight its our best shot to get above .500 i just hope ponson can throw strikes if so i think we’re good.
Just watched Black Snake Moan last night...

My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.

Sweet!
I hope for some quick early runs… I have to leave for an hour and a half or so in about five minutes
OK, need a verdict.
Last night, I went to the game with my dad. I kept score the whole game, and my dad defined that behavior as “dorky”. I disagree with him, and instead think that keeping score is just awesome. Verdict, please?

Not dorky...
I rarely keep score these days but when I was a kid I usually tried to.

When do you think we see him in the bigs, AJM?
Once Laird is traded? There’s no way we can leave him down in the minors till September.
A Lonestar in California - 2.0
"I LOVE to fart" - Bert Blyleven
problem with that is this
If you bring him up after Laird is dealt and stick him at DH you basically pidgeonhole him and his potential trade value as a catcher goes in the tank. Once a guy becomes strictly a DH its hard to then move them back to a position especially one as hard as catcher.
I wish he could move up to AAA but as long as he is getting everyday ABs and working on his defense whether it be at catcher or 1B or whereever thats fine with me. We will definitely see him before this season is over
im totally shocked...
How long till someone else in OKC gets released or moved so this kid can play DH?
Heres a good question, is it better to let MadMax work on his defense in AA or bat aginstbetter pitching as a DH in AAA
Ponson
I love when he’s on!

Quentin has been a bit better than Hamilton and Dye has done well, but Swisher has sucked.
Sure

Meh.
He’s always had a relatively low OBP. Hasn’t stopped him from being extremely productive.
I don’t think he’s hitting 40 homers again anytime soon, but I think he’s got at least 3 more years of very good productivity.

mlb.tv question
Anyone who uses mlb.tv notice that the Rangers broadcasts are NEVER full screen? It always cuts off on the sides, whats with that?
I’ve watched other games in 1.2, Arizona most recently, and it’s widescreen… This is happening with HD broadcasts, too. I don’t get it.
to clarify...
I want a widescreen view, or full screen. I don’t want this “tube” view that doesn’t look much better than the 800k..

not sure if its all on the defense since they seemed to go through the holes pretty well. Sometimes it just happens to a pitcher who doesn’t K a hitter.

Ponson just needs to avoid innings like that
He has a tendancy to let things pile on when he gets into trouble, that inning was a perfect example of that. If he can keep the A’s from getting multiple men on base with less than 2 outs, he should be ok till the 7th, though.
