Who are the keepers?
I'd like to know who you all think are the players the Rangers should not trade at each level. In other words, to use a standard that zywica often holds up, who are the players that you would most hate to see on another organization's roster? Choose two from each level. Mine:
MLB: Josh Hamilton (top notch CF in a park that really needs one), CJ Wilson (outstanding lefty)
AAA: Teagarden, Hurley
AA: Davis, Andrus.
A+: Kiker, Hunter
A: Beltre, Feliz
UPDATE: I should add among those in short season ball: Main, Font
It gets much tougher the lower you go. At Clinton I would also hate to give up Castillo or Santana.
If you need a handy depth chart, here's the one from Scott Lucas's Ranger Rundown:

I think this two per level is a strange requirement. There is no one at AAA who I think is untouchable, whereas I think there are many at the very low levels who are. If forced to choose two, I’d probably agree with you for the most part.
Varying from two, here is what I would do.
MLB: Need to add Kinsler. I think he is a long-term piece that would be very hard to replace, especially from within this organization
AAA: Drop Hurley. I’d like to see him do well in Texas, but he’s hardly untouchable to me.
Same goes for Teagarden, I just want one of our current catchers (Salty, Tea, MaxRam) to be our Catcher of the Future. I don’t care which one.
AA: Agree on those two. Almost have MaxRam as well, but I won’t for the same reason as leaving Tea off above. Though I think MaxRam has more value than Teagarden right now.
A+: I think I’m the only one who is really intrigued by Borbon… but I want to see him come up in Texas. He may be higher than Kiker in my book.
A: Obviously Beltre and Feliz are the highest, as they are two of the top handful of guys in the whole system.
I’ll add the “Not on the field yet” category: Main and Font

Two
completely arbitrary, but I wanted to make it difficult by not keeping too many.

Keepers
MLB: Josh Hamilton & Ian Kinsler
AAA: Eric Hurley & John Mayberry
AA: Chris Davis & Elvis Andrus
High A: Kasey Kiker & Julio Borbon
Low A: Feliz & Beltre.
I don’t think anyone should ever be considered untouchable, especially the guys in AAA.

MLB: Hamilton, Padilla (I just like the guy)
AAA: Teagarden, Madrigal
AA: Andrus, Davis
A+: Kiker, Vallejo
A: Beltre, Castillo
Spokane: Font, Pimentel
AZL: Perez, Boscan

Nice question
I’m basing my list on guys that you would be hard pressed to get dollar for dollar value on.
MLB: Hamilton (irreplaceable at this point), McCarthy (his value is at its basement right now)
AAA: Mathis (got a feeling he has Doug Davis potential, but wouldn’t get you much in return right now), Hurley (Recent bad history of trading top pitching prospects)
AA: Andrus (only touching potential right now), Madrigal (see Andrus)
A+: Kiker (see Hurley), Vallejo (I feel like if he can continue to hit, he can be a pretty big time player)
A: Feliz and Beltre (no doubt talents)

Hurley
sucks, so don’t trade him cause he has no value.
Oh and where is the last member of DVD? Oh yeah he isn’t good either.

Hm.
MLB: Ham, McCarthy
AAA: Hurley, JMJ (narrowly edging out the consistent Mathis, who’ll see MLB time this year once Padilla’s dealt and/or Ponson regresses)
AA: Max, Davis (tough to overlook Madrigal, strangely easy to overlook Andrus, Harrison)
A+: Whittleman (best eye in the org…have you checked his numbers lately? [not the errors]), Kiker
A: Beaven, Fabio (comical amount of necessary ommissions)
Go Strangers.

hmm
MLB: Josh and Bmac
AAA: Mayberry and Hurley
AA: Max and Chris (easiest to choose)
A+: Kiker and Borbon
A-: Beltre and Beavan

+1
But on a personal level the players that would hurt me if they were traded are C.J., Hamilton, Kinsler and Murphy.
I’m not saying they are the best players on the team (although I do think Hamilton is the very best player we have), just that these are the guys I enjoy watching and always root for a little harder than some of the others.
Right around the time all the young talent is ready to contend is when the organization will realize that Ron Washington is the wrong man for the job.

I hear ya
I would be pretty down if Wilson was traded. Fortunately, I don’t see that happening.

Forgot about him
He’s on the DL right now, so he wasn’t at the forefront of my mind, but add him to the list, too.
I’d also say that Matt Harrison, Fabio Castillo, and maybe even Engel Beltre are untouchable as well.

these players simply can't be touched
MLB: Josh Hamilton, Ian Kinsler (and Boggs)
AAA: Hurley, Madrigal
AA: Davis, MaxRam
A+: Hunter, Kiker
A: Beavan, Borbon
I am a HUGE Brandon Boggs supporter.

Not to jump off topic, but...
according to nearly every list so far… how important is Hamilton to the Rangers right now and how terrible would our offense be without him?
Someday I will become a RangerMAN!
by RangerBoy on May 8, 2008 3:56 PM CDT 0 recs
Very
Without Ham this would be our lineup:
1. Kinsler
2. Cat
3. Young
4. Bradley
5. Murphy
6. Boggs
7. Shelton/Broussard
8. Salty/Laird
9. Duran/Vazquez
And Young, of course, might be out for awhile here.
Without Ham, we’d be looking at on OF of Murphy, Boggs, and the defensively unable Catalanotto/Bradley. Uuugly.

Thats what that lineup makes me want to do. Not to beat a dead horse from last night but look at that lineup and tell me how having Edinson Volquez every 5 days would make this team better.

Blalock is hurt
And there’s no garuntee Hicks would have let JD sign Bonds if Hamilton wasn’t here. Hicks doesn’t seem to want him here no matter what (and I agree with that, BTW).
It’s true we probably would have wound up with Cameron or something, but he sucks, and he was suspended for the first 25 games, if you’ll recall.
Any way you slice it, the Rangers would be much worse off without Josh Hamilton. God help us if he gets hurt.

Cameron
He doesn’t suck. He is what he is. A very solid defensive player that will probably have an OPS+ over league average. Hardly a player that sucks.

Okay, maybe he's solid, then
But he’s also 35 years old. Hardly a long-term solution (like Hamilton is).

Of course
I wasn’t trying to suggest that Hamilton isn’t the better long term option. Hamilton is a hall of fame level talent. When it’s over, he could be considered the best player to ever wear a Rangers uniform.
I was just making the case that Mike Cameron doesn’t suck.

I'm glad we didn't get Cameron
that might have stopped the Hamilton trade.
