Young DL bound?

Probably not
He supposedly expects to play tomorrow.
However, if Young can’t play tonight, there are no backup infielders, so might as well get Metcalf up, given that Broussard was going to get whacked anyway.

How bout that.
Maybe I’m reading this news wrong, but does that mean Metcalf’s going to play some 1B? Has he before?
And AJ stays in the rotation?

Aha
Just read Jamey’s flash.
AJ went down to make room for Kason.
Broussard’s out to make room for Metcalf.

Nah...
cements Cat and Shelton as the 1B platoon I think with Metcalf taking some of the 3B time.

eh
i know he’s only had 18 ab’s (1 hit) and has a staggering obp of .190…but what if in 40 at bats (about 60 total), he’s still right at around below .200? (he’s hitting .056). i’m sure he’ll turn it around because unlike botts, he’s proven that he CAN in the majors. at least he could 2 years ago.
and no, they wouldn’t have to bring botts back up. cat can play 1st. hell, to keep salty in the lineup everyday let him play 1st against lefties. and there’s still nate gold in aaa i guess.

No, Byrd is scheduled to come off the DL in a week or so
My guess is, German Duran gets sent down when Byrd comes off the DL, so he can get everyday AB’s again in OKC.

I'm watching the game...
on a one hour delay (I love DVR). Just heard Josh mention this, and had to see if it was already up.
1. Not going to miss Broussard or his “music”.

pretty sweet to see
a potential future infield/outfield:
Salty catching, Shelton at 1B, Kinsler 2B, Duran SS, Metcalf at 3B
Boggs, Hamilton, Murphy all rotating in the outfield

+1
Unless there is some miraculous improvement in Metcalf’s game I’m not looking forward to any everyday lineup with him in it.
And Duran as the everyday SS doesn’t do much for me either.
Right around the time all the young talent is ready to contend is when the organization will realize that Ron Washington is the wrong man for the job.

Yeah, when I think of a sweet Ranger IF
I flash back to a few years ago to Blalock, ARod, Young, Teixeira.
Not a lineup with a combination of decent starters and useful bench players like Metcalf and Shelton.

as true as that is
I guess I’m excited about Duran, Salty, Boggs and Murphy getting playing time with the combination of the amazing up-the-middle combo that is Kinsler and Hamilton.
plug in what you will at 1B (Davis of course), 3B (? Hank ? maybe Duran here???) and of course FOTF in SS until Andrus forces him to 3rd

Finally!
They have undone the travesty of signing him when they already had a better option inhouse.

i think most of us were confused as to why they traded for broussard right after trading for shelton who is a younger (cheaper) and better option

They also had Cat inhouse
who has no defensive position in the OF, as far as I can see. They had Botts, regardless of what I think of him. They had Shelton. They had Saltalamacchia.
I guess they got Bradley later.
