Richie Sexson

What a damned joke. Should get 20 games for that bush league crap. He basically charged the mound for a ball that he would have been out on if it had hit him.

by JayK on May 8, 2008 10:48 PM CDT   0 recs

Sad thing is

even if he’s suspended for a number of games, he won’t be missed much.

Wow. That wasn't even close to Sexson.

You’ve got to think he’ll get a significant suspension on that.

by Athos on May 8, 2008 10:50 PM CDT   0 recs

it was the weirdest thing

he leaned in and then leaned out

Rare Gnats Sex

by ab03 on May 8, 2008 10:51 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

That's more than just a normal brawl too

He didn’t get hit by a pitch and it wasn’t even close. Add onto that the size difference, the helmet throw, and Gabbard possibly re-injuring himself and the league better crack down on his ass.

by Gdawg1 on May 8, 2008 10:50 PM CDT   0 recs

don't care about the Mariners

they suck either way. A huge suspension takes money away from Sexson. Its like a dumbass tax

by Gdawg1 on May 8, 2008 10:53 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I hear

there is a first baseman available if they need one for a few weeks. I think they are familiar with him. Maybe they would give up a minor league utility guy to get him.

by badradiorules on May 8, 2008 10:58 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

What's the point?

Selig will hand out some half-ass suspension, the MLBPA will successfully appeal for it to be reduced, and he’ll end up with five games off.

This is because suspensions in Major League Baseball are a joke.

I keep thinking

boy, are McLaren and Felix going to look stupid when they get a better look at the pitch Sexson charged on.

by zywica on May 8, 2008 10:50 PM CDT   0 recs

Yeah..

They already look stupid, they might as well feel that way, too.

i still havnt gone back and really watched the brawl

too busy posting.

ive got to go check out this bradley/laird thing and various other facets.

Gerald Laird is my hero.

by DSheppard on May 8, 2008 10:51 PM CDT   0 recs

laird/bradley

Bradley was basically pushing laird back across the diamond. He was really pushing into him and looked a little annoyed. The only thing I’d say is that Bradley was trying to make sure that the catcher didn’t get tossed for someone else being a set of f’n clown shoes.

by JayK on May 8, 2008 10:53 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Bradley gets

a +1 from me. I don’t care what has been said about him before, the guy has been nothing but great in every possible way here for the Rangers.

by Gdawg1 on May 8, 2008 10:54 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I actually really liked seeing that from Bradley

he has really matured the last few years…

Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.

by WhipSmart on May 8, 2008 10:54 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

My guess

Hernandez hits Bradley. Bradley vs Hernandez . Hmm…hope it doesn’t happen, though

by chrisR on May 8, 2008 10:51 PM CDT   0 recs

Felix isn't a complete moron

Bradley would literally tear his arm off and feed it to his children.

by LiamP on May 8, 2008 10:52 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

and felix is still in the game.

injustice.

Gerald Laird is my hero.

by DSheppard on May 8, 2008 10:51 PM CDT   0 recs

Felix still out there

he’s only out there to throw at someone… no other reason he’s still on the mound at this point.

Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.

by WhipSmart on May 8, 2008 10:52 PM CDT   0 recs

I need a place...

too watch it on the internet.
I was in my car listening to it on the radio.

someone show me the way.

go to the gameday thing

through www.texasrangers.com

click on the video tab at the top right where it has the boxscore
that should work for you

you can’t see the whole thing, but you can see the pitch and then him charge the mound

by Longhorn on May 8, 2008 10:53 PM CDT   0 recs

Were the radio guys livid about this?

I would love to hear the radio feed of this too, if anyone by chance has the audio.

by jwiscarson on May 8, 2008 10:54 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Eric and Victor where pretty livid

But they where a little more subdued than what I heard TAG and Josh where. I think they where more stunned than anything.

They got their licks in on Sexson and the Mariners, but nothing like what TAG is being quoted on.

by lonestarJon on May 8, 2008 10:56 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

OK . . .

I’m not watching the game – just saw the replay on gameday. From the description, I didn’t realize that Sexson was that close when he threw the helmet and hit Gabbard so squarely. That could draw an unprecedented suspension, maybe 20-50 games. I’ve never seen anything like that in the majors.

by Randy Richardson on May 8, 2008 10:54 PM CDT   0 recs

Thats because

most major leaguers have whats known as BALLS

the highlight is on gameday

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2008_05_08_texmlb_seamlb_1&mode=gameday

and the mariners announcers actual defend the action.

Gerald Laird is my hero.

by DSheppard on May 8, 2008 10:55 PM CDT   0 recs

How is that even possible?

No matter how partisan you are – how can you defend that?

by UrbanDad on May 8, 2008 10:56 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Then they are stupid homers

Sexson charged the mound on a ball 2 or so feet away from him. Tossed the helmet about 3/4 of the way to the mound and then attacked someone who was trying to protect themselves.

by JayK on May 8, 2008 10:56 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Wow.

“No doubt it was on purpose” Ok.

Not the only black poster on LSB.

by sprite on May 8, 2008 10:57 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

They're gonna feel pretty damn stupid

when MLB suspends his ass tomorrow.

by jwiscarson on May 8, 2008 10:57 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

the real joke would be

if the MLB suspends Gabbard or Laird for some reason.

by JayK on May 8, 2008 10:58 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Thanks for the link.

Holy hell that was the most unobjectionable pitch to charge the mound I could ever imagine!!!!!!!! How can that action be defended? I wish Frankie Frank had dished out some more vigilante justice with his chair!

There is no such thing as global warming. David Murphy was cold, so he turned the sun up.

by SarasotaRanger on May 8, 2008 11:01 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Watching Extra Innings and got the Seattle announce crew

Could they be any dumber? They’re defending it, they’re proud of the fact, they overreacted on “how close the pitch was to his head”, they practically fucking gloated when Gabbard had to leave the game…

It’s god damn sickening.

by venturafearsnolan on May 8, 2008 11:19 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

if they were

celebrating an injury they are even weaker than Sexson.

by JayK on May 8, 2008 11:20 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

They didn't come out and say it

But the tone of their voice definitely said “Well if he didn’t want to leave the game he shouldn’t have thrown at Sexson’s head” (why they are STILL going on and on about that when it was 2 feet away I will never know).

I don’t know if I’ve ever heard announcers as homer-retarded as these.

by venturafearsnolan on May 8, 2008 11:24 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

What part of that isn't true?

Are you saying th Seattle announcers aren’t talking about that?

I’m not watching the feed, so I genuinely have no idea.

by jwiscarson on May 8, 2008 11:25 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

That's good to know.

I think we’re all a bit pissed about this situation over here because our team’s so injury-ridden and Gabbard’s one of our few effective pitchers.

by jwiscarson on May 8, 2008 11:27 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Understandable.

Obviously, the frustration boiled over for the M’s tonight.

by dieselT8 on May 8, 2008 10:55 PM CDT   0 recs

After singling off Queen Felix. Its about as warranted as what Sexson did.

by Gdawg1 on May 8, 2008 10:56 PM CDT   0 recs

Sexson

You guys are going a bit overboard with the suspension predictions.]

He’ll get like 1-3 games. The league is dumb, we’re the Rangers, and it’s Kason Gabbard.

If it was Josh Beckett out there and it was in Boston, whoooooo boy.

by LiamP on May 8, 2008 10:57 PM CDT   0 recs

when he’s pissed.

by BHill on May 8, 2008 10:58 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Rare Gnats Sex

by ab03 on May 8, 2008 10:58 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

no way

the helmet throw from five feet is going to cost him.

by Randy Richardson on May 8, 2008 10:58 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

No, it's really not.

At the most it “costs” him 2 extra games. Sexson doesn’t have a history of idiocy (correct me if I’m wrong).

by LiamP on May 8, 2008 11:00 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

It was a helmet

I don’t have enough faith in this league to suspend him for any more than 3 games.

by LiamP on May 8, 2008 11:02 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

No what should cost him is simple

He charged the mound at a point in time that there was ZERO reason to charge the mound. The ball wasn’t near him. His team had hit 2 batters already in the game. I think he needs a suspension because theres no reason at all for him to charge the mound.

by JayK on May 8, 2008 11:02 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I'd be willing to bet

it’s at least 10 games.

by Randy Richardson on May 8, 2008 11:02 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Dude

If it’s 10 games, I will ride the DART train from Plano to Dallas naked.

by LiamP on May 8, 2008 11:05 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

for everyone's sake

Please don’t, unless you’re actually a non-pregnant Jessica Alba.

by Gdawg1 on May 8, 2008 11:05 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

OK

Throwing the helmet was way beyond the bounds of fair play. Charging the mound, even if the pitch wasn’t close is no big deal, 1-3 games. But throwing the helmet at such close range is going to be punished.

by Randy Richardson on May 8, 2008 11:07 PM CDT
