Tom Grieve (non-brawl-related) quote of the night
On Ben Broussard being designated for assignment:
"I think ideally, what the Rangers would like to do -- and I'm just guessing, I don't know this -- I would guess that they'd like to trade him if they could."
Hope it isn't lonely all the way out there on the end of that limb, Tom...
Note -- I did this before the brawl, scheduling it to post after the game. Obviously, this is no longer REALLY the Tom Grieve quote of the night. I guess I should change the title to "non-brawl quote of the night," or something.

Well, there is the alternative of wanting him to slip through to AAA and stay in the org
like botts.
Gerald Laird is my hero.

Nope
He has enough service time he can reject an outright assignment and become a free agent.
And if he does that, he still gets his entire 2008 salary.

Best Tom Grieve quote of the night...brawl related

Yeah
That was my favorite, that’s why I added it as my signature. Good stuff.

Anybody else
Get the feeling that Grieve could kick some ass if he had to? He seems like the kind of guy who’s taken Tai Chi for the past 30 years, and probably incorporated some aspects of traditionalist kung fu.

I think
he’s more the type to give them a good talking to or write a letter of protest, very well worded.
...and curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid git.

grieve
he seems like a very mild mannered person who just every so often something gets under his skin and he just unloads. thats part of what i like about him.

like in 2002
I think it was…a late west-coast game and Irabu was pitching patriculalrly awful and gave up a long-ass homer to some spare. They went to break, but I guess someone forgot to hit the right button…the bump music played, but the break never took and Tom said in a VERY annoyed tone (quite un-Grievelike, I might add) “Well, shit…he couldn’t have thrown abtting practice better than that. Shit.” I’ve always found that a better indicator that Grieve is more like the regular fan than he appears on broadcasts.

Holy hell
Check out LOL, the second game thread from last night and look at the picture posted at exactly 12:00. Man, that’s really funny.
And if I knew how to post a picture, I would. Too dumb.
What happened to my old signature?

Well I think that ideally...
...the Rangers would like to trade BB to the Yankees for A-Rod, Jeter, Joba, Hughes, and $50MM in cash.
Of course that’s ideally speaking…
Right around the time all the young talent is ready to contend is when the organization will realize that Ron Washington is the wrong man for the job.
