The only thing I would do to the current uniform is monkey around with the hats
I would do away with the white “T” on the hats, and color the “T” red again, like this:

I think that would look a lot better than the white “T” hats, which seem kind of bland to me. It would also kind of pay homage to the caps of the early 90’s, which I’m sure many folks would appreciate.

Oh, and another thing
They need to bring back the BP caps with the Lone Star flag on them:

I have one of those, and it’s my favorite Ranger hat. I probably wear it 90% of the time (and I wear a hat every day). Comfortable, durable, the best looking of any official Ranger cap theres ever been, IMO.
The ones they came out with last year look exactly like the on-field cap – which is already kind of bland as it is – so now we’re probably the only team in the majors without some kind of cool alternate logo on their BP caps. Which is a pretty stupid marketing decision, when you think about it.

hat
I love this design. The flag looks like it is waving and I really think they should go this route. However, I bought this hat and it gives me a headache because its one of those flex fits.
by JackDublin on Jun 13, 2008 10:50 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Too cluttered to me.
I wouldn’t mind seeing the BP hat just be the flag logo, though…. at least, in theory.

Mine did the same thing to my head when I first bought it
But I wore it so much because it looked cool, I stretched it out a little. I’ve tried to find an adjustable version of that design, but I don’t think they make one.

White Uni's
Hope you have Laird modeling those white uni’s or else that “S” looks like it’ll be hanging off the side.

red
cmon it was cool for a bit, but we ended up looking like the Angels…..and who wants that?!
by JackDublin on Jun 13, 2008 10:50 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
red
If I am not mistaken the Angels were not wearing red back then, they changed when we went to blue. Red belongs to the winning Rangers, comments from LA when the change was made was that the Angels looked like the Rangers.
And I want that as well as Kinsler, Young and Blalock.
That is not me in the photo, so relax.

their new's are basically the exact same as our reds
only they have angels or whatever on their. unoriginal bastards, i know the rangers are talking about redesigns and i hope we go with something ours and something traditional old school look in some form as its basis. i always felt like we stole the red look anyways. Looks like the angels stole our stolen red look.

I liked their 1993-1996 look
It was simple, and although I usually hate the red at home, blue on the road look, they pulled it off well.

Red wasn't exaclty the primary color
for those 1993-96 unis.

i'm sorry
but that old school typeface is goofy as hell
the powder blue w/ modern typeface w/royal blue sleeves is intriguing though
the rangers probably have enough uniforms as it is…. does any mlb team have more than 5?
i think the hat should stay the way it is now. a red T on a blue background only works if it has a full white border, not a white drop shadow. the white T may be a little bland, but it pops pretty well

Personally
I like your Away Throwback Red. I love what the Indians and Royals and Blue Jays have done….they have modernized the throwbacks. Genius. Make it feel old school with a fresh approach.

Unless they are changing i cant see us able to go back to the red. even the writing on the front is the same…

The Spy Kids poster is oh-so appropriate
Joe Morgan: (On Jay Bruce) I think he will. He brings energy to the team, and besides that, he is a pretty good hitter.
Ken Tremendous: I like that the #1 reason he will help his team is: "energy," and the distant #2 reason is: "ability to hit baseballs."

Something I did a few months ago....
I took some sizable liberties with the Rangers identity and moved them away from the red/white/blue overabundance in baseball and give them a more “western” identity.
I’ll just link to the image, because it’s large.

I don't know how many of you are shopping for baby these days...
but with one coming next month I can tell you…
You’ve nailed all the “in vogue” baby colors with those jerseys.
It’s brown with light blue, brown with light pink… weird color combos. Not a fan of the scheme, but your jerseys are nice.

Red
I’ve asked before but i’ll ask again, do people really like the red or is it just because the team was winning more with them?
personally i hate the red, hated it then and hate it now. i like blue, white and grey uni’s and a powderblue throwback would kick ass…. but that’s just me

i just want originality
my biggest complaint since bobby v dropped the red bill and went cursive was that design-wise, from that day forward the rangers designs have taken influence from other teams or lacked originality. booby v wanted us more like the dodgers look, the red uni wasnt very original with its font or design scheme, then they have gone sleeveless which i will always think of as a cinci reds look. give me a classic rangers look. give me a red bill and a blue cap, give me an original and traditional font for the writing on the front that no other team can claim as their own(note the texas modern font and the LAAAofAAA modern font are the same, boring….), i liked the red white and blue piping of the old days.
the royals series made me realize how we really can pull off that powder blue away throwback and people would flip out for it.

Simplicity
At this hour I’m not going to make an image, but I’d go for something very, very simple. No colors…just black block lettering and white uniforms at home. Switch it to gray on the road but leave it the same.
Not dissimilar to the old Yankee uniforms:

silver and black?

Is it a personal preference thing(vests)?
Because, otherwise, I think the difference in heat between the vests and cool base jerseys would be minimal.
by venturafearsnolan on Jun 17, 2008 12:15 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
not so much a personal preference...
...i think the sleeveless vests are classic… like the ol’ Pittsburg Pirates, or Oakland A’s…
i’d like to know if the players feel “cooler” playing in them than the seemingly heavier sleeve tops.
