Steve Phillips
Picks Boston as AL’s best offensive team. How can they be a better offense when the only stat they lead Texas in is OBP, which is by one point.
He says he knows Texas has scored more runs but Boston has more ways to score runs. Then why aren’t they??
Because they don't have the MURPHINATOR!
That is why.

First game using MLB TV
How much of a delay is the premium feed of MLB compared to watching the television broadcast?
I heard the 800K is nominal and the 1.2 meg feed is like 30 seconds
I’m on the cheap 400K feed and it varies… sometimes only a few seconds, sometimes as much as 15
So the better the feed is
The longer the delay??
by SaltyGoesYard on Jun 15, 2008 12:10 PM CDT up reply actions
1.2 can be sometimes 45 seconds behind 400K
I would think 400 is behind more than 15 seconds behind TV
Rare Gnats Sex
Way to make Maine work there... 7 pitches in the first inning
Millwood will probably throw four times as many…
hmm
could have made him work a bit more that inning. but i guess maine was throwing strikes
Rare Gnats Sex
Look at that
Millwood throws to first, almost as if he isn’t going to let Reyes be at second base before he throws a pitch.
the Mets announcers pointed out..
that he’s doing more of a side step with his delivery. He’s using more upper body than legs, I’m sure because of his injury….Ron Darling pointed that out.. That must have a lot to do with it.

Screw you Beltran
You’ll pay for robbing Hamilton. Next time he comes up, Millwood needs to hit him hard
Was that co0mment because of Murphy's flyout?
If so, you’re like 10 seconds ahead of me on the 400K feed
wooooo fantasy
thank god i dropped him yesterday. although it was stupid to pick him up in the first place.
Bring up Justin Smoak
I picked him up
before his first start too. Figured it was a decent enough risk if he pitched great, but he proves there is no such thing as a pitching prospect.
Interesting point the Mets guys brought up
Millwood’s batting average against the first time through the order is .260, the second time through is .318 and after that is .351… aren’t those numbers worse than Kameron Loe?
Don't agree with this move
If he is our “Ace” then he should be able to get the #8 man out and have the pitcher leading off the next inning.
Nixon's first SB since 2005
So Salty’s dad gets in a huff about some criticism and leaves, then the guy who’s supposed ot be the master at controlling the running game gets a base stolen on him… splendid.
wait
did anyone hear the mets play by play guy say “The Rangers have a legitimate #1 in Vicente Padilla”
-Wakes
If Padilla
finishes the season as strong as he has started it, he is currently on pace to win 19 games, pitch around 200 innings, have an ERA below 4, His peripherals, though, don’t seem to support his performance thus far. His ERA+ is 107. Nevertheless, his stuff is comparably to a #1 starter. He also has had a couple seasons where he has pitched like an all-star (2002 and 2003).
While I am not sure that he is a “legit ace”, I would go as far as saying he is a top of the rotation starter capable of being an ace.
hahaha

In the teams’ local markets, the games would be shown, but blacked out on mlb.tv and MLB Extra Innings
we discussed this before
i don’t think that blackout applies to mlb.tv. i haven’t been blacked out at all this year
Rare Gnats Sex
I get blacked out on it with every game involving the Angels
I’m just not sure whether the second game of the doubleheader will fall under the “national live blackout” or not… ATL/LAA does because it’s the Sunday Night game, but there have been times inyears past where the Rangers had a Sunday Night game that wasn’t the one ESPN televised and I couldn’t watch
Yes they do.
• National Live Blackout (Regular Season): Due to Major League Baseball national exclusivities, for each Saturday game beginning April 19, with a scheduled start time after 1:10 PM ET or before 7:05 PM ET, and for each Sunday game that begins after 5:00 PM ET, all scheduled webcasts of such games will be blacked out.

using frankie in a 6 run game instead of saving him for game 2.
The way Fx2 pitched his last time out
I would rather put him in with a 6 run lead instead of a tight game.
"Would you mind walking a time or two so I could drive in some runs"? Milton Bradley
if u remember
the last time he pitched badly was the game right after washington had him throw a bunch of pitches in a non close game.
Yes you are right I want him pitching
in a tight game look how great he is pitching now.

Just ask Kumizi he will tell you.
"Would you mind walking a time or two so I could drive in some runs"? Milton Bradley
im just saying
look at history and situational performance instead of just blank statements. i have no reason to stand up for frankie
frankie
obviously he is struggling but as a manager, you are supposed to use your player’s strengths. Both Frankie and CJ have struggled in non crunch situations. Frankie has been very good when he comes in with runners on and in a close game.
Of course you want him to be mentally stronger and excel in both situations but in a 8-2 game, wouldnt you want a guy like Mathis or Rupe with good control just throwin strikes in there?
pitching from the bullpen
they have both had decent control especially compared to frankie
So why would you put Frankie in a close game then?

it has nothing to do with logic

im not on stats inc or anything but i wonder what CJ’s stats are like in a 4+ run game versus a 3- run game.
Your either
A good pitcher who can get hitters out.
Or your a bad pitcher with bad controll.
The situation dictates nothing. There is no such thing as a “Closer” either, just a pitcher who comes out and pitches the 9th inning.
