Purge in Toronto?

If management stays with Ricciardi-Gibbons, the Jays are done for this season and beyond. If management recognizes the obvious, do not be surprised if Buck Showalter again leaves television to get what he always has craved -- complete control of an organization.

Mr. Fraley is advocating for a Buck take-over.  He is suggesting that a Showalter is what is needed in Toronto.  Look at all the Ranger spares they picked up:  Wilkerson, Barajas, and Mench.  I wonder who they might be selling soon?

I wouldn't mind kicking the tires on a few parts they have up there...

Halladay, Burnett, Marcum, McGowan, Litsch (especially the last three since they’re cheap), any one of those five would be a nice pickup for us.

Marcum, McGowan, Litsch

Buck would probably get rid of them because he thinks they can’t pitch in cold weather.

those are the kinda guys id really love to get my hands on

i think a guy like marcum (ie a solid #3 that is reliable) can be had at an affordable level and they could use a Laird and a guy like Blalock.

kinda seems like a good fit.

I would love to have Marcum here

he has been real solid this year. ERA under 3, WHIP under 1 (as of right now)... I wonder how much longer he’s under control by the Jays.

Go Vote for Kinsler, Young, Hamilton, Bradley and write in Murphy. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2008/ballot_reg.html - Vote up to 25 times on as many email accounts as you can think of!

Laird? really

... and Blalock… first of all the Jays have Zaun and Barajas (yes, I know)... and they have no use for another halfass catcher… and Blalock is pretty useless right now, plus the Jays have Rolen

If Marcum was in NY or Boston, he would be considered the next Greg Maddux by now, since moving to the starting rotation mid-2007, his numbers are Greg Maddux-esque…

The type of package to acquire Marcum would HAVE to include Kinsler and Salty…. Marcum is under control for 5 more years

Laird...

has played well this year.

And although I like Marcum, he wouldn’t demand both Kinsler and Salty.

pitching

With the price of free agent pitching the way it is, having an excellent #2 starter under team control for 5 years is worth A LOT…. the Jays are contending now, and aren’t looking for prospects…. it’d have to be a young all-star position player (Kinsler)

The only SP the Jays would trade right now is Burnett, but he’s got and opt out clause at the end of the year, which he’ll exercise 100%

by Baseball North on Jun 18, 2008 10:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Agreed

Marcum is a good young pitcher with 4 more years under team control after this one. He’s very, very valuable. It’d take a ridiculous package like that to tempt the Jays (or any team, really) to trade a guy like that.

Ah, okay

Thought that was a “tag” or whatever.

My bad.

Heh, and it wouldn’t be a Fraley article without a factual error in the opening paragraph.

Bavasi was the first GM fired this year? Wayne Krivsky would very interested to hear that, Gerry, you god damned moron. He is so dumb it just boggles my mind. So dumb. So very, very dumb.
