MB III is a late scratch

Likely due to the wet field and the still-tender quad, per EG. It’s been raining quite heavily throughout north Texas this morning.

Yep

I couldn’t work today because of the heavy rain.

I Don't Get It..

Why do some people on this board refer to Bradley as MB III? What’s the derivation of that nickname, and why have we chosen to give Bradley a nickname that is so clearly already taken by another local athlete? Makes no sense to me….

Son of a bitch

I hesitated and checked the Thursday thread to see if anybody has posted it there, in that time you swoop in, STEAL ALL GLORY.

that seems odd

i thought the whole deal was that you keep mclaren so that the new GM can bring in whoever he wants and doesn’t have to feel compelled to keep the interim manager, especially if the interim manager starts winning.

going to be listening at my desk at work. I’ll miss the middle for some feel-good “chat with the CEO” i’ve been invited to though.

OT - Firefox 3

Anyone else having problems logging into LSB in Firefox 3? It kicks me out to the SBNation homepage, but it says I’m logged in. When I click on LSB, it logs me out again.

Had to switch to Safari just so I could post this.

I haven't tried it yet

I have 3 on my work laptop but i haven’t installed it on my Mac yet. I’ll try it and see if I have the same problem tonight.

Send and email...

...to bugreport@sbnation.com. There have apparently been some problems for FF users who have upgraded, but not all of them. But send an email, and they may be able to help you out.

Thanks

sent an email. I’ll post up here if I get a response.

I haven't upgraded on the work computer yet, but did upgrade at home

I had no problems at home,,, but home is windows and work is mac, so I don’t know what kind of difference that would make.

by Inkara1 on Jun 19, 2008 1:10 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

nope

no issues, try completely uninstalling firefox (if you did an “upgrade” install) then install again

prepare for a spit-take:

The second best firstbaseman in the AL West is:

Frank Catalanotto.

and I can prove it.

by iblum on Jun 19, 2008 1:05 PM CDT   0 recs

the proof

Here are the regular first basemen in the AL West:

Daric Barton .222/.332/.329
Jason Botts .158/.304/.395
Ben Broussard .159/.225/.268
Miguel Cairo .207/.288/.241
Frank Catalanotto .272/.352/.408
Casey Kotchman .300/.347/.440
Richie Sexon .220/.294/.380
Chris Shelton .204/.327/.323

Talk about the tallest dwarf among the midgets there.

From Keith Law's chat today
Adam J. Morris (Houston, Texas): Smoak, Chris Davis, or Max Ramirez? And does any other team have three pure hitting prospects as good as those three? Keith Law: (2:06 PM ET ) Smoak, Davis, Ramirez. The Rangers’ system is stacked. Other orgs … no, you may be right on that one. Giants could make a case if you want to project on Villalona and give them Posey and Gillaspie.

by Adam J. Morris on Jun 19, 2008 1:08 PM CDT   0 recs

I think

neither Posey nor Gillaspie have anywhere near the power potential of Smoak, Davis or Ramirez at this point.

by FirebatM3 on Jun 19, 2008 1:09 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah, not too close to me

It’s hard to compare insane AAA and AA success with recent draftees.

Joe Morgan: (On Jay Bruce) I think he will. He brings energy to the team, and besides that, he is a pretty good hitter.
Ken Tremendous: I like that the #1 reason he will help his team is: "energy," and the distant #2 reason is: "ability to hit baseballs."

he slid for the catch, came up, and threw out a runner trying to advance to third. just ponder that for a bit

I was going to remark that it was stupid to have Boggs at DH when Hamilton could probably use a partial day off. But then again…

I've read

that Hamilton doesn’t like DHing. I know he said once that he doesn’t like watching baseball, but loves to play it.

Maybe he gets bored between innings and prefers to stay out there in the field.

by Dirk Diggler on Jun 19, 2008 1:21 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Maybe

But I bet its because he thinks Wash smells bad and doesn’t want to sit in the dugout with him

Chipper Jones lines into double play, right fielder Josh Hamilton to third baseman Ramon Vazquez. Yunel Escobat out at 3rd on the throw. three out.

because he got the out when vazquez tagged him

so that means escobar had a lead when he was breaking for third. the throw would have been impressive, regardless of whether there was an easier way to make the out
