Kettle...Pot...Black?
I remember reading this gem in the last gamethread:
“for the fans to boo CJ he’s really been a pretty good guy and done a lot in the community, not at his best right now, but I have a hard time blaming him when his Mngr. and pitching coach have pretty much taking 3 of his 5 pitches out of his repertoire, but as you can tell by my name I am a CeeJ fan.”

THATS
Actually the first post I made on here about CJ I believe, I usually dont say anything about him b/c of my name I dont think anybody would take me seriously there, I just thought it was sorry to boo him!

On the contrary
LSJ’s comments are usually much more intelligent than yours. Just quit while you’re ahead, my friend.

LSJ is a hotthead himself. But I’ve been a lurker on this site for awhile now, and blueballlefty’s posts are often like a fork in my eye.

it's not a double team
he said you’re dense because they talked about the mohawk 5 posts up.
but it’s not a big deal either. Just one comment. you explained yourself. just move on. no need to repeat it
Rare Gnats Sex
How do you figure
all he does is complain about Salty’s playing time and the fact that its everybody else’s fault except Salty’s when he doesn’t succeed, there are just a couple of you guys that are buddy’s and team up on people

Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
and he
gave up the sac fly that tied the game.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
what's he gonna do?
he has 1 out and a runner on 3rd. i guess he could strike the guy out
http://www.buchanan4pres2008.org/
NIXON: NOW MORE THAN EVER
Keep the ball in the IF
and don’t let that run score no matter what. The Rangers didn’t have one of those 4 run leads where you say, just get the outs and don’t let the inning get out of hand. Wright’s job was to come in, and not let the Braves tie things up.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
Or.....
you could give the man credit for limiting the damage that CJ had done to himself. Wright did his job people.
The game was tied
He didn’t do his job. Just because he didn’t give up more runs doesn’t mean he did his job. Its the same thing as saying that German would do his job when he gave up a bunch of runs, but none counted against him.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
he did his job
a pitcher can rarely control how he gets out. he go the out. asking anything more is just asinine. might as well be upset that hamilton doesn’t hit homers every AB
Rare Gnats Sex
He was asked
to come into the game and not let that run score. He failed. Its pretty simple actually. If he keeps the ball in the IF, if he gets the DP, if gets the K, any of those work better than a hit that far out in the OF.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
Yeah
because a RP who comes into a game at 4-3 and leaves the game at 4-4 didn’t do anything wrong at all.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
Well...
You are right that there are a couple of outcomes that could have been better. However, you are asking him to be perfect and that’s just not realistic. We got a very good outcome out of a situation that could have been FAR worse. You’re expectation of perfection is going to make you a very angry baseball fan.
I'm asking
a RP to come into the game and get 2 outs without giving up a deep fly ball or a hit. That type of perfection shouldn’t be too much to ask for from a guy who you’re bringing into the game at that time. He can strike hitters out at a decent rate (6.02 Ks/9) and he can work the GBs (3.04 on the season). I’m not demanding he pitch a perfect 9 inning game, just that his job is to not let that runner from 3rd score and he failed.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw

could you just start opening thread 2, then close it after like 10 min and jump straight to good ol #3?

Washington still sucks
putting in Shelton as a pinch hitter in extra innings is still a fire-able offense.
So is being an Arizona Cardinals fan
a fire-able offense, too?
It's baseball. You don't always get what you want, and you don't always want what you get. --Ed Coffin
Nats
So that Nats sweep the Mariners in Seattle and then get swept by Minnesota. They are 4-6 in their last 10. Looking at the pitching matchups, a sweep of the Nats is not out of the question.

We haven't swept anyone
this season. I’d bet it won’t happen. The bullpen will find a way to screw it up.

"Would you mind walking a time or two so I could drive in some runs"? Milton Bradley
you don't say!
actually you’re wrong, there was no 1970’s Nats
it is funny though that the nats are playing the old washington franchises back to back
Rare Gnats Sex
even though the name was senators
The common nickname used always was nats. Sports Writers like short names.
hmm
never mind, i guess they had changed their name to the washington nationals around the turn of the century. now it makes more sense
Rare Gnats Sex
the old washington senators
around 1904, changed their name to the washington nationals. but the name change didn’t stick so they went back. so, i guess it makes sense that the press still referred to them as the nats.
Rare Gnats Sex
yeah, they became fond of the name nats maybe cause it's a local insect
Typical headline
Nats swated twice in double header.
Clark Griffith was a great man
He founded the Senators and helped found the American League.
However, his son Calvin(adopted son, he was really his nephew), was the one that moved them to minnesota. What a not forward looking move that was. And guess what, he is buried in the area, what nerve!!! I’ll go piss on his grave some day, then I’ll find Bob Short’s grave.
still not sure that they wouldn't have IBB him
bring in mike gonzalez to pitch to murph. less chance of that though
Rare Gnats Sex
i dont think they could have used gonzalez
he was the last man in the pen and pitched yesterday. and is their current closer.
they cant start brining in starters in the 11th inning.
Bring up Chris Davis
It really will be interesting to see what happens with CJ.
I still think he can be a good pitcher, but the way he puts so many people on base and has too high of a pitch count, he may be better off for now earlier in the game. Guardado has looked good other than that one homerun, and he works fast. Then when Guardado is traded or CJ figures it out you can move him back. I just feel like his luck is starting to run out. His era isn’t pretty anyways.
I say...
flip flop them and let CJ throw the 8th for a while. Another question I have is…why has Wash been playing with the top 3 in the batting order? It has worked pretty damn good
ok...
Milty was 4th, and Kins, MY, and hammy have been doing it all year. Hammy has a gazillion rbis for god sake, they have been doing what the top of the order is supposed to do. Stop putting laird and cat and crap up there…they are hitters no matter what kind of pitcher they are facing
I say
convert Ceej back into a starter.
Millwood, Padzilla, Feldman, Ceej and Hurley seems pretty good to me.

Padilla
by my count he should have 4 or 5 more starts before the All Star Game, lets say he wins two of those, does he get picked? what if he wins three? Lets say his era stays around 3.75 do you think they keep him out with 11 or 12 wins a 3.75 ERA and around 80 K’s?
i really really doubt it
especially since the rangers already have one guaranteed all star and 2 other very deserving candidates.

The wins might get him in
but he doesn’t deserve it. The 3.75 ERA is nice, but he’s just shy of the top 15 in the AL with that ERA and there are a good few more deserving candidates there.
