Keep the ball in the IF

and don’t let that run score no matter what. The Rangers didn’t have one of those 4 run leads where you say, just get the outs and don’t let the inning get out of hand. Wright’s job was to come in, and not let the Braves tie things up.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

by bdavison94 on Jun 19, 2008 4:33 PM CDT up reply actions

The game was tied

He didn’t do his job. Just because he didn’t give up more runs doesn’t mean he did his job. Its the same thing as saying that German would do his job when he gave up a bunch of runs, but none counted against him.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw

by Gdawg on Jun 19, 2008 4:39 PM CDT up reply actions

Rare Gnats Sex

He was asked

to come into the game and not let that run score. He failed. Its pretty simple actually. If he keeps the ball in the IF, if he gets the DP, if gets the K, any of those work better than a hit that far out in the OF.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw

by Gdawg on Jun 19, 2008 4:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah

because a RP who comes into a game at 4-3 and leaves the game at 4-4 didn’t do anything wrong at all.

-The Outlaw

by Gdawg on Jun 19, 2008 5:03 PM CDT up reply actions

Well...

You are right that there are a couple of outcomes that could have been better. However, you are asking him to be perfect and that’s just not realistic. We got a very good outcome out of a situation that could have been FAR worse. You’re expectation of perfection is going to make you a very angry baseball fan.

by bdavison94 on Jun 19, 2008 6:02 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm asking

a RP to come into the game and get 2 outs without giving up a deep fly ball or a hit. That type of perfection shouldn’t be too much to ask for from a guy who you’re bringing into the game at that time. He can strike hitters out at a decent rate (6.02 Ks/9) and he can work the GBs (3.04 on the season). I’m not demanding he pitch a perfect 9 inning game, just that his job is to not let that runner from 3rd score and he failed.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

It really will be interesting to see what happens with CJ.

I still think he can be a good pitcher, but the way he puts so many people on base and has too high of a pitch count, he may be better off for now earlier in the game. Guardado has looked good other than that one homerun, and he works fast. Then when Guardado is traded or CJ figures it out you can move him back. I just feel like his luck is starting to run out. His era isn’t pretty anyways.

I can't wait for TAG to come back.

That means Victor goes back to radio and we don’t have to listen to Dingleberry Busby anymore. Godspeed TAG! We need you.

bullpen trouble aside

hurley and feldman’s success gives some hope for the rotation coming around.

hurley was decent for his second start

feldman was outstanding. a lot to like there. worked quickly and efficiently sans one inning.

I guess the question is

can Padillia and Millwood keep it up?

Thankfully it's the Nats coming up

not the greatest offense. Of course, they haven’t played our pitching staff yet.

Sweeping them

is usually a given.

heh

yeah, I mean I know we haven’t done that yet. But, considering the other stuff going on, not the biggest accomplishment

Why do they have ED?

Padilla

by my count he should have 4 or 5 more starts before the All Star Game, lets say he wins two of those, does he get picked? what if he wins three? Lets say his era stays around 3.75 do you think they keep him out with 11 or 12 wins a 3.75 ERA and around 80 K’s?

by blueballlefty on Jun 19, 2008 4:42 PM CDT reply actions

i really really doubt it

especially since the rangers already have one guaranteed all star and 2 other very deserving candidates.

The wins might get him in

but he doesn’t deserve it. The 3.75 ERA is nice, but he’s just shy of the top 15 in the AL with that ERA and there are a good few more deserving candidates there.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

btw

young was good and everything but Kinsler really is the man. your team needs a run and you come through with a leadoff double. impressive
