Hamilton: AL Player of the Month for May!
Per Jamey:
"MLB has just named Josh Hamilton the American League Player of the Month for May. He is the first American League player in the 35-year history of the monthly honors to win the award in both April and May in a given season. Eric Davis (1987), Bobby Bonilla (1988), and Mark McGwire (1998) achieved the feat in the National League."
Wow, just wow!

Here:
It doesn’t mention any of the history of the award, i.e., other players winning back-to-back.
...it's the weekend, so why the hell not?

Hmm
For setting the highest definition of excellence, Sharp, the presenting sponsor of the American League Player of the Month Award, presents Josh Hamilton with a 52” AQUOS®. Sharp AQUOS is the “Official High-Definition Television of Major League Baseball.”
Can I have one of the TV’s, Josh?
Joe Morgan: (On Jay Bruce) I think he will. He brings energy to the team, and besides that, he is a pretty good hitter.
Ken Tremendous: I like that the #1 reason he will help his team is: "energy," and the distant #2 reason is: "ability to hit baseballs."

No kidding
I wonder if he has a big enough place for two of those enormous TVs.

How many kids does he have?
Maybe he’s winning a TV for each of them

Very cool
Though it probably means we’ll see even more national media references to the Rangers being all bat and no arms.
...and curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid git.

Yes, it is,
but there is never, ever any nuance to it. No mention of the incredible number of injuries for instance. It’s just bad, bad, bad all the time, forever and ever, world without end. I’m bitter, can’t you tell?

Should we just go ahead and give him the player of the month for June as well?

Saturday
I decided I wanted to get a Hamilton player t shirt (For some reason these aren’t available online, at least last time I checked). Those puppies were selling like hotcakes in the gift shop. I literally saw two or three walk by as I approached in addition to the people looking on the racks. These things were ALL over the park. Hamilton fever is defiantly catching on.

Jersey T
I got his at the beginning of the year but my friend went to get one during the Astros series and they were out of M’s and L’s at two booths he went to so he had to settle for FOTF. Definitely could surpass Young very soon as far as fan popularity goes.

Face of the Franchise...
Laughenberg had that as his poll question on last nights sportscast. The results were surprising:
Young 69%
Hamilton 31% (IIRC)

Not that I watch his show
(espn was on when I turned on the tv, and I haven’t gotten through all my steps, all the way to turning on the cable guide)...
But Jim Rome’s show is ending, and he said he’s having Josh Hamilton on tomorrow. Set your DVRs!

Hamilton Switches Agents
Saw this on MLB Trade Rumors
According to SI.com’s Jon Heyman, Josh Hamilton and the Rangers were closing in on a long-term deal until the player decided to switch agents. Heyman says Hamilton switched from Sosnick Cobbe Sports to Moye Sports Associates because he “wanted to be with a Christian stable.”Hamilton, 27, is the early favorite for the AL MVP award. He won’t be eligible for arbitration until 2010.
Kind of weird doing something like this in the middle of negotiations. Think he doesn’t want to sign anymore or something?

Your answer
is very plain, to me:
Hamilton switched from Sosnick Cobbe Sports to Moye Sports Associates because he "wanted to be with a Christian stable."
...it's the weekend, so why the hell not?

LOL
I’ll never understand religion. I guess he didn’t want that commission to go to those satanic agents over at Sosnick Cobbe Sports.
Still rings a little strange that a deal was close and he switches agents.

I'd bet Moye
has some connection to his church/denomination, perhaps on a national level. Either way, given the conviction of his beliefs, this does not even make me bat an eyelast.

maybe
he feels he can trust a christian moreso than a nonchristian. thinks he’s less likely to get screwed. any also, maybe his new agent will tithe?
who knows.

Tithe
Good point. Christian’s are supposed to tithe (10%) and Hamilton’s agent will get roughly 10%.
So lets say Josh signs a $40 mil (conservative). That’s an extra $400,000 that goes to the church.
Joe Morgan: (On Jay Bruce) I think he will. He brings energy to the team, and besides that, he is a pretty good hitter.
Ken Tremendous: I like that the #1 reason he will help his team is: "energy," and the distant #2 reason is: "ability to hit baseballs."

maybe the agent will do more for Josh than the last one...
look after him more… I’m not really sure how much an agent would do that anyways, but he could be getting more support.
On top of that, he could be making sure that he won’t be getting any pressure to compromise his values.

Religious representation
I’d bet he wants an agent that will actually pray with him and for him, genuinely trying to discern God’s will for his career. I have no doubt that Hamilton feels that strongly about that sort of thing, as do many Christians.

Based on what I've read in the past
if Josh is looking for a Christian agent, we’ll never have to worry about him signing on with Boras.
