Prospect: Neftali Feliz
Over at Minor League Ball...Neftali will be the feature "Prospect" on Monday.
http://www.minorleagueball.com/
Should be good...considering some were saying he was overrated before the season...and he's looking utterly dominant.

I don't see what the controversy is
Is he one of the top 5 pitchers in the minors? Probably not, but he has big time stuff and is a big time prospect. Where’s the controversy?
Controversial Prospects
The series seems to involve either prospects that have the production but not the tools or that have the tools without the production. That’s where the controversy lies.
This is the Texas Rangers, professional destroyers of hope, we're talking about. - BAC
Feliz
He has the tools with a high 90s heater and developing breaking ball and he dominates every time he takes the mound. I don’t see what he is lacking.
4IP, 7K, 1BB, 1H, 0R.... Filthy
Also in Arizona:
O’Campo on the mound with 2 IP, 1 K and zeroes elsewhere.
Lionel De Los Santos, the next great catching prospect, with a triple.
Ben Henry, the man who shunned Annapolis, started off the game with 5 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 5 K, 0 ER, 1 R
No he has controversial pieces on players
Like he did on Cahill, this one is just an update.
Yeah, that Cahill's a
dick!

Because no one
knows if he is going to be a reliever or a starter.
Hopefully he becomes a starter.

So...
his final line was 6 IP, 3 H, 0R, 2 BB, and 10 K. Yeah I gues that’s ok.
Good hell this kid needs a few starts in Bakerfield before he hits his innings limit for the year. Is there any doubt he’s our top prospect once Davis is promoted?

As do I...
but you could easily make the argument for Davis as well.
They are a close 1 and 1A in my book right now.

Good point
I look at them this way. Davis is closer to the show and will probably make an impact at the major league level this season. He will probably hit 25-30 HR a year over the next few years with the potential to hit 35-40 a season as he continues to develop as a hitter. He lacks defensive value but his offensive production more than makes up for that.
Feliz is a guy with the potential to start game 1 of a world series.
Feliz, Davis, Smoak
Those three are pretty clearly the top 3 right now, I think, and you can put them in any order.

Supposedly
Beavan is refining his mechanics so that he can repeat his delivery effectively, which explains why he’s not lighting up the radar guns and getting a K per IP.
I think once he gets comfortable with repeating his delivery properly, the K’s will come back along with his velocity and hopefully he can keep the impeccable control.
I think Main can catch him with a strong 2nd half, though.

what a strange way of saying...
“extend your stride, son”
Most pitching coaches worth a crap will tell you that a good, long stride will help with weight transfer and build more body velocity toward the plate. legs, hips, core, shoulders, arm, hand!
