our injuries

with Bradley not being able to play the field and only Max and Duran left to play you have to keep some flexibility in case of a double swithc or something. Thats one of the reasons the NL sucks

Hey Guys

We’ve started calling Carlos Lee “El Burro.”

I believe you guys recall from his brief visit with the Rangers his ability to, shall we say, speed up to a trot when running the basepaths.

Hey

if Mench can make the transition in two or three games surely Hammy could take some GB’s and be able to do it for a game or two, but your right look how bad Berkman has been at it

by blueballlefty on Jun 24, 2008 9:16 PM CDT up reply actions

and did he do that in the minors or majors?

who cares if it

was AAA or up here he played fine there and he is playing in the league right now isnt he? If you were to put Hammy at 1st once a week until we get a more solid player there I dont think that would be the worst Idea since this is his first full pro season in like 4 years.

by blueballlefty on Jun 24, 2008 9:21 PM CDT up reply actions

how does this happen?

the rangers go in and only take 1 out of 3 from the mets, and now the mariners have gone in and taken the first 2, completely destroying the Mets, while the immortal RA Dickey threw 7 shutout innings tonight….

First Hurley, now Max, and eventually, Davis. man for the first time in a while, it sure feels good to be a Ranger’s fan.

Exactly...

you don’t see strategy like that in the AL! I mean it takes a lot of strategy to replace the latest crappy NL hitter you have in your lineup with a pitcher and bring on a defensive replacement. No AL manager understands that…

...mainly because they woudln’t know what a crappy hitter is generally.

You are kididng, right? What do previous years stats have to do with a decision on 2008 Benoit? He is a colossal EPIC fail. He needs to be gone.

One could easily argue..

thgere’s no chance anyone they bring in to replace him could do any worse. I mean did you just watch that inning? He had a five-pitch walk and then presented a silver-platter home run ball to Berkman. Ouch, he is our opposition’s best friend.

Robinson Cano has been awful this year

So has Dustin Pedroia. So has Roy Oswalt. So has Troy Tulowitzki.

by Adam J. Morris on Jun 24, 2008 9:59 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah. and your point is?

Each of those players is much much better than Benoit. Anyone in baseball would say the same. Pedroia and Tulo rookies of the year or in serious contention. Oswalt= perennial Cy Young candidate.

by HighPlainsGrifter on Jun 24, 2008 10:22 PM CDT up reply actions

FX2 has failed plenty this year and has had control problems.

Wright failed miserably after the Oakland series, but looks to be getting it back again. CJ has had a bad year. Should they all be DFA’d too? Who would you replace Benoit with? You’d just assume DFA Benoit instead of trying to let him work it out and possibly getting some trade value from him? Perhaps you weren’t here in April/May, when he started well and we were discussing his trade value to various teams. Thus, he hasn’t sucked this entire year.

Hell, following your logic, why wasn’t the entire 2007 team DFA’d last May?

One postgame question

Does Wash have some evil incantation or voodoo spell on his head about 8th innings? Unless Benoit’s “tired arm” is actually an injury, and it may be, his stuff is nothing like it has been 2005-2007. Byrd’s K was in fact a foul ball. Salty was on base three times. MY was on base three times. Tough game to lose.
