LOL

They are so secret the rumors haven’t even been revealed.

Rumor

That Font is really a white kid from Highland Park that likes to wax-poetic about the hunt for hot chicks.

Holding does nothing for me.

I just can’t get excited about staying pat. There’s no reason Cat, Byrd, or Shelton should be on this team after the deadline. Now if people want to debate Bradley, Blalock, or Millwood/Padilla, I can see both sides. Otherwise the three mentioned previously are holding up young talent and prevent the Rangers from giving said talent an opportunity to get their feet wet this year rather than having to start the MLB learning process next spring, when our start out of the gate might actually matter.

As for Laird, AJM love him, his future is elsewhere. I just hope he’s healthy and able to be traded. The Satly Era has begun.

Blalock's never ending story

is holding him up. Had JD known back in April that Blalock would still be MIA he might have just called Davis up from AA to start taking his lumps. It’s not just Shelton, it’s also Cat, and Hank. At least two need to be moved on through whatever means so he can start getting his reps Aug. 1st.

by Hull Fan on Jun 25, 2008 2:52 PM CDT up reply actions

+1

Dogpiling JD is fun for some folks and at times it’s even merited but not in this instance. Blalock’s status is what is holding CD back more than anything.

Nothing is holding up Chris Davis

sheesh, people he’s been in AAA for a short while. He’ll be up soon enough, by August 1 I’d bet, at which time he’ll be 22 years, 4 months. It’s not like he’s been languishing down there forever having his development stunted.

by t ball on Jun 25, 2008 3:03 PM CDT up reply actions

Well, but no one here

should be under the illusion that this team is contending, or that Chris Davis is being hurt by a few more weeks in OKC. Wanting him up immediately is just selfish, really. I’m sure the Rangers are as aware as we are of what he is doing. They are keeping their options open, probably. If they can find anyone willing to give up anything for Shelton, that’s preferable to just dumping him, though it may come to that anyway. Neither the team nor Davis is hurt by seeing if Blalock can get healthy and play a bit at 1B and draw a little interest.

You are correct sir...

...the Rangers at this point are NOT in contention so if the determination has been made that CD’s time has not quite arrived then so be it. I can live with Shelton manning the minority role in the 1B platoon for a little while longer.

I don't see how...

Chris Shelton is standing in Chris Davis’ way. If we cut Shelton and brought up Davis, we’d have 3 left-handed batters for 1b/DH.

Marlon Byrd

I have no problem keeping this guy around. hes been really good and is very versatile. Oh and one other thing.

Potential type A free agent

Thats right kids. He could be our next GMJ. I don’t think he will get anywhere near the contract GMJ did but he will be at worst a type B but if he gets hot again there is a good chance he is a type A FA at years end.

are you serious?

I’m still hoping the Cubs jump in desperateness and buy high on Marlon. I just can’t believe someone is going to offer him big time money. You think he’ll get a contract for over four million a year? Is everyone on crack?

by Hull Fan on Jun 25, 2008 12:44 PM CDT up reply actions

yes im serious

His numbers last year and this, if he maintains this years and gets another hot streak in him, will most likely qualify him for type A. As I said I don’t think he will get GMJ money because GMJ had more power than Byrd does but I could see a team giving him a 2 year deal for 3-5 mil. Thats not alot of money in todays game.

money being thrown at a guy who’s just not that impressive.

it is boring

but despite it’s crappiness, it’s a pretty impressive little feeback loop the Rangers seem to be stuck in at the moment…

Yes, I said feedback loop.

Make it so…

A random question

Are the Ranger games only available (other than regular channels) on FSSW on DirectTV. I have DirectTV and would like to switch to Dish TV but don’t know if they also carry the Ranger games. Am I stuck?

Nope

As long as you have FSSW you get most of the games.

More on Random Question

I asked the Dish TV salesperson about FSSW as I get the RAnger games there on DirectTV and she really didn’t know. She said they offered something called Fox Sports Net Southwest (FSNS) but she couldn’t verify that that was the RAnger station. I’d like to got to Dish (I have them at a hunting cabin I own) and they have a couple of channels DirectTV doesn’t have and they cost less as well.

Yes I have Dish and get every single Ranger game on TV

but I live in DFW. If you live elsewhere, I don’t know.

FSSW is 416 on Dish. Some games are also on Channel 27.

Thanks for the info, I'll make the switch to Dish TV.
