Great time to be a Rangers fan!

Well, these are the days that we have been praying about for many, upon many, of years. Where youth has been given the nod over struggling, inconsistent veterans. This year's team is unlike any other in that they are full of youth and talent directly promoted from the farm below. Can you believe that we haven't fallen for a dumb trade that would require some youth in exchange for some player past their prime and in a contract year?! And can you believe that we are actually letting our prospects play in the bigs?! Thank you Nolan Ryan!

Promoted to the bigs and still with the team:
Eric Hurley
Chris Davis
Max Ramirez
Scott Feldman
German Duran
Brandon Boggs
Luis Mendoza
Doug Mathis
Salty

Waiting in the wakes:
Matt Harrison
John Mayberry Jr.
Elvis Andrus
Warner Madrigal
Thomas Diamond
Kasey Kiker
Julio Borbon
Feliz, Ramirez, Main, Beltre, Beaven, Gomez, Perez, Holland, Boscan...........etc. etc. etc.

Nolan Ryan

He had nothing to do with it.

I know!

It’s more like “Thank you Nolan for not effing up JD’s plans!”

Yup

Nolan hasn’t really done anything. These are mostly guys that were brought in by JD.

no way

If Nolan Ryan is involved in anything, its automatic props!

I love Nolan

But his presence worries me more than anything. JD’s plan is a good one and Nolan is the wild card that could eff it up. Hopefully I’m wrong and Nolan in on board with JD and will serve as the buffer to keep Hart from effing it up, but I can’t imagine Hart having any problems with JD so long as the payroll is as low as it is.

Why would he do that?

I’m not sure why so many think its inevitable that Nolan will mess things up. I think he believes in developing young talent as assets for the near and far term future. Nothing he has said or done should make anyone think he doesn’t believe in that.
The situation that some are going to give credit to Nolan when he deserves none is really irrelevant in forecasting his actions.
If the team develops and becomes successful, we should all be deliriously happy and not concerned with the internal politics that would cause proper credit from being given.

I think

a point being missed is this big youth movement is happening and we are at .500 consistently. Sure a 6-7 game winning streak would be nice, but with all the youth in the Majors, .500 is above average. Very admirable, indeed

Yeah.. and probably

be hitting us fans, who put up with this losing ass team with another price increase. I’m starting to get sick and tired of all the BS that comes with being a fan of this God forsaken team

bitter

may as well quit with pro sports if that’s your complaint.

It's bitter pill to swallow

with the Rangers. The situation has been unpleasant for many years but must be accepted.

I just needed a little rant after last nights crappy game. I feel a bit better now.

I still have hope :)

Yah, Nolan threw some Texas high heat at the crappy minor league system JD had built!!!

And he probably did while wearing a kickass bolo tie. Then he went out and rustled some cattle, Texas Style.

I grew up as big a Nolan fan as there was and considered it an early 19th birthday present when the Rangers signed him at the ‘88 winter meetings.

His time with the Rangers did nothing but solidify my devotion to him. I count among the best nights of my life being at the old stadium for his 5000th K and no-hitter #7.

But enough is enough! His impact on this team on the field and in the minors is minimal at most!

Then he

made rattlesnake quesadillas, with a side of titmouse & wild rice soup, followed up by a nice salamander souffle for desert.

Then the snow monkey stole his damn six-shooter, and groped him…it was very uncomfortable.

Mike Tyson as weird as it is actually has a quote that I like to use and is quite wise when you think about it.

You're giving Tyson credit for that quote?

Joe Sheehan quote..
The Rangers have been a pleasant surprise, largely on the backs of some surprising veteran performances, but GM Jon Daniels needs to focus less on the 40-39 record and more on leveraging peaks from Milton Bradley, Vicente Padilla and Ramon Vazquez to acquire more young talent. Daniels revamped the Rangers at last year’s deadline—he can set up a possible dynasty by doing it again this year.

by phina on Jun 27, 2008 6:02 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

so later this year

can we see a lineup similar to this?

Eric Hurley pitching
Luis Mendoza relief

Kinsler 2b
Mike Young SS
Josh Hamilton CF
Milton Bradley RF
Chris Davis 1B
Max Ramirez DH
Brandon Boggs LF
Salty C
German Duran 3B

vazquez, murphy, blalock, cat, shelton, byrd, laird are all on the bench or traded at this point

not gonna happen, and that team would probably get destroyed, but it would be “nice” i guess :)

boggs vs. murphy

i know that boggs is 2 years younger than murphy, but is his ceiling much higher than murphy’s? he’s a switch hitter so that obviously helps, but murphy has produced, so why relegate him to the 4 OF stigma, or trade him?

baseBALLIN!

by kevzta on Jun 28, 2008 12:38 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

They're the perfect platoon

Murph should play against RHP only and Boggs should play against LHP.

Then, you’ve got plus defense in a corner with well above-average offense. 854 OPS vs RHP and a 974 OPS against LHP.
