MJH joining DMN blog
Good for him! I will be looking forward to it.
Per his old blog:
This move is something that Evan and I have been kicking around for nearly a year and, after a meeting with the DMN brass last week, everybody decided that it was something worth trying.
I'll be posting on matters spanning the width and breadth of the Rangers organization, not just the minors. I'll do some live blogging from Arlington and Frisco and contribute two Farm Fresh Goodness (FFG) reports every week. My first post should go up around noon tomorrow.
For those of you who read this blog, I would really, really, deeply appreciate it if you would save that link as a favorite and check in with me over there -- and contribute comments.
Regards,
MJH

Awesome
As much as I love making fun of MJH for the smother-love he gives prospects, he’s always been one of my favorite minor league guys.
Really looking forward to reading his stuff there.
Congrats, MJH.

About time you gave the man his due, hater
Congrats Mike, and excellent work Evan. EG deserves props on this as well…

Indeed
It took me a while to get over the whole “Barbaro updates” debacle, and I still hate the way he morphs into a petulant 5 year old anytime someone deigns to disagree with him.
But if you can overlook the smother-love, he’s pretty plugged in and he always has good insights and observations.
I’m really looking forward to his stuff on the DMN blog.
My prediction: There will be drama.

Looking forward to seeing you upstage the vast majority of the DMN blogging staff, Mike.
Does this mean
less blogging by others I shall not name?
Looking forward to continuing to read your thoughts, Mike.
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.
P-p-p...
Nah, I can’t force myself to say it!

yeah
you’re right, they both didn’t give Bmac and Danks updates all throughout the year last year. And, not to mention their thoughts on JD differs.

MJH has a clue.
McMahon doesn’t.
Ask McMahon to list 10 prospects in our farm system right now without looking it up and he wouldn’t get to 5.
If you asked Poochi to list a top ten
He’d quote Hindman’s then make silly, snarky comments on them.

Yeah
Figured he’d know. He takes pride in having some idea bout that kind of thing, even if low level baseball prospects aren’t in his wheelhouse.

Or he'd say...

I think it is, actually.

Because I didn't want it in the comments to that post
by Adam J. Morris on Jun 29, 2008 2:35 PM CDT up reply actions
And to clarify
If you want to bitch about how sportswriting sucks, and whatever else, feel free…
I don’t want it in a post I put up as a sign of respect for someone on the anniversary of that person’s death.

Fine.
But in all fairness, somebody dies/has died every day.
by brettgardner on Jun 29, 2008 2:38 PM CDT up reply actions
I am aware of that
And when I choose to make a post about someone’s death, and talk about how it had an impact on me, I’d just as soon people not use the comments section to go OT and crap on sportswriting or whatever else.

As I said
That’s fine. Apologies if I offended you.

As long as you're the judge
I couldn’t really be bothered.
I only wish that I could get the answers to my questions that were deleted.

The Eagle has landed....
I'm
Scouring the LSB archives to find one clever thing you’ve ever said.
Still no luck. It seems as if the level of your discourse tops out at “OC TAKES SHIT” , some goofy pictures, and those ever-present ellipses.
If that’s what clever is to you, then, as I said, perhaps you’re not the best arbiter on the matter.
Why don’t we stop this useless bickering so we can spend a few hours determining who the top posters are on this baseball blog, while offering some pity commentary to beef it up?
...that’s all…
by brettgardner on Jun 29, 2008 6:01 PM CDT up reply actions
hey brett...
...i’m gonna be the bigger man here and apologize for arguing with you earlier.
i also apologize for you having to waste your Sunday digging through archives, trying to decipher which of my comments are on par with yours, in a petty attempt to topple a conversation that is now four hours old…
i want you to have the last word, brett… and if beating me isn’t enough to champion your notion of superiority, i’m sure Morris and bdavison94 (two LSB regulars who have more skins on the wall) would be more than happy to wave the white flag… at the expense of you shutting your mouth…
i’m sure the sports writers of america are also sorry, brett…
as am i… i am really sorry, brett. really, really sorry.

I didn't actually scour anything.
But your point is accepted, and your concession noted.

i'd rather do one on the date he, ummm, let's just say
leaves.

Does he get paid?
And if so, does that mean people can be critical of his writing without the obligatory “hey, he does this for free so get off his back” stuff.

Congrats Mike!
Sounds like a good gig, especially the part about extending the blog beyond prospect scouting, which is really cool and all, to include other organizational issues. I’m curious to hear what you know on that front.
It adds some credibility to the DMN blog, IMO, even if I don’t always agree with your assessments.
future fun

You know I wonder
If MJH just got tired of the new “Movable Type” format on MLBlogs. That’s the reason why I moved my blog to Wordpress, because MLBlogs was borderline unusable after they converted it – I don’t know about now, but I just really don’t like that entire format they’ve got, period.
Hey, thanks for the kind words on Mike
We’re REALLY, REALLY pleased to add him. His first minor league report, full of trends I wasn’t aware of, should be on line within the hour. I expect he and I will engage in our first debate (which I am already sure I’ll lose; what was I thinking adding an attorney?) before the end of the day.
Hope you have been visiting often and will continue to do so even more often.
DMN blog
Evan I love your writing and your insight but I have to say that blog was awful. Not necessarily the content but the whole CAPTCHA code to submit an entry and having to enter it several times. The moderators screening entries, even though it was probably necessary from me a couple times :), the fact you can’t really carry on a conversation/debate with someone because the comments are just one on top of the other, etc. I used to frequent that blog quite often before i even knew this one existed. I just couldn’t take it anymore.
