Not a bad outing for a guy who hates day games. Much prefers to pitch at night.
Also, in his last appearance against the Astros he gave up six hits. All six hits came off his slider. His slider was abnormally flat that night. It’s because a finger on his pitching hand was sore and bleeding … from accidently slamming his hand in his hotel room door.

I think all 3 of those guys are very useful players to say the least
The problem is that we don’t need Byrd and he probably has the most value to another team. Based off some of the rumors for Coco Crisp this past offseason, I think the Rangers can get some good value for a guy who doesn’t have the same defense, but has a lot better offense.

Byrd has been great since coming off the DL, had a solid year last year, always had the potential, great work ethic, very affordable still, and can play all OF positions and do a great job in any of them. That’s a pretty valuable piece for a team trying to break a 100 year drought.

Jim Edmonds has been providing them with good production since they picked him up, and they’ve still got Pie to be the 4th OF.
Edmonds is a 100 year old injury prone player near the end of his career
I don’t see him keeping up this hot streak for long. Pie has been terrible this year for the Cubs and so has Murton. They still have a very big need for Byrd, especially more so than when they first showed interest in him

Their respective OPS+s are within 5 points of each other.
Byrd is probably a little better defensively.

I’m saying it doesn’t make sense to just release him or give him away.
At this point, I don’t see who you’d necessarily replace him with, other than Nelson Cruz, and if you are going to call up Cruz to play 2-3 times per week, then I’d rather see Boggs go back down than just release Byrd.

Hopefully Feldman will continue looking great or at least Millwood will look great for one start. I’m not expecting a sweep, just hoping we can win another series, beat up on Baltimore, and then knock the Angels out of first place. I’m not asking for much, just that.

Maybe next year
We haven’t even been able to pull 2 games above .500 yet. I’m really excited about this teams youn talent and it’s future, but I just don’t see it all coming together until next season at the earliest.
For now, I’m just content to watch the young guys, and enjoy their success.
