Kirkman to BAK per the Spokane radio guy
Main was pretty nasty thru 5 IP – go look at the pxp notes. It was the 2 runners he left on base in the 6th that marred his line. This is really big good news. Main is back healthy, back in shape, and back in badazz form. What do you do with him now?
IF’er Higgins was brought up also from AZ to SPO.

Clinton
Like you said, good to see him go that long.
Would be nice if Kirkman is finally back on track. The last year or had to be pretty frustrating for him.

Best news ive heard today...
Main is making a case for himself to to Clinton, who goes up? Is it to early to bump Feliz? Holland? Is there a bullpen arm that can be let go or moved?

For me
it’s not too early to move them. However if they don’t want to yet, I think you move Castillo back into the relief role where he basically does the piggy back thing and install Main. He needs to be in Clinton once he’s healthy and in form. That should be one of the handful of highest priorities in the entire system. I don’t believe that you let numbers get in the way of that sort of thing. The whole reason that you draft and develop is for Michael Mains.

Bumping Castillo
That’s the first thing that popped into my mind, too. Then I remembered what I’d read this morning at LSD:
Jason Cole: What were your impressions on Fabio Castillo’s start?
.
Danny Clark: First of all, obviously we’ve been building him up to be a starter. His first three innings were very impressive. Then obviously in the fourth inning, he came in and started to tire. He was up around 40 or 45 pitches. The biggest thing for Fabio is that we have just got to continue to build his pitch count up and his strength so he can get into the sixth and seventh inning. It’s not an urgency for us because he is still 19 years old.
So, it looks like it’ll take a promotion to find a rotation spot for Main in CLN.

Then
they need to promote Holland or Gomez even if they’re not 100% ready. Main needs to be in the Low A rotation when he’s ready.

Would the Rangers...
wait a couple months and then promote Holland, Gomez, and Feliz at the same time?
Not sure if it would be necessary, but it may give those kids a little extra incentive to keep competing with each other.

Eh
For one thing, a couple of months means the end of the season, since minor leagues don’t play in September. For another, they have four prospects in the Bakersfield rotation too, and they are not all on the same time frame that these guys are. They need to promote guys when they’re ready, especially now that the first half is over.

What's the story with Kirkman?
Was he injured or something for the last year or two? As a 2005 draftee he should be much further than Spokane, shouldn’t he?

bad wildness - walk machine
seems to have got a grip on the problem this season – maybe – fingers crossed – really behind the 8-ball though – Hulett said he’s made good strides recently – about the same age as Cliff Springston

Kirkman to CLN instead - Nelo to the BAK bullpen
JB Diaz was added to the FRS pen so BAK needed an arm. But Kirkman to the CLN pen seems like an odd move to me. Does this mean promotions are coming soon? Or is Kirkman just sorta being rudely parked outta the way?

Well, as we've discussed
the Clinton and Bakersfield rotations are pretty full. I have no problem with Kirkman relieving this year, based on his results. They can always move him back to starting at a higher level if he is worthy. At this point (assuming that he’s looking like a worthwhile prospect) they need to figure out how to get him moving up the ladder, given his upcoming options situation and all.

Did Elvis have a...
straight steal of home or was it the back end of a double steal?

I was in Little Rock last night
The steal of home was one of those Little League 1st and 3rd situations. However, he did break for home as soon as the catcher came up firing. On a side note, I have read the discussions about Elvis and his number of errors. From watching him last night only and the two ground balls hit to him, it seems that the problem is lack of concentration. He seems to have all the skills and is very smooth.
Vallejo’s error was one a one-hopped, soft liner. Had he stayed back for the big hop, he would of had no problem making the play at 1st. He did make a very nice backhand stab up the middle and off-balance through to get an out a first. His double hit at the base of the wall in RF…look like it had a chance to get out when it left the bat.
Borbon’s single was a bunt single to lead-off the 4th inning. It started the seven-run 4th. He had decant ABs, but did get blown away by a hard throwing lefty late in the game.
Borbon, Andrus, and Vallejo look to be cut out of the same mold. They are all long and lean and run like cheetahs.
Majewski, Murhph, and Restko all hit the ball hard. Diaz lit up the radar gun at 95-97 for three innings.
Arkansas didn’t have much, so if the Angels have prospects at AA, I didn’t see anyone that stood out last night.
