Daniel Ray Herrera a major leaguer
The Cincinnati Reds have purchased the contract of Danny Ray Herrera, the former 40-something round draft pick of the Rangers who was sent to the Reds as part of the Josh Hamilton deal, and is about the same size and weight as one of Josh's legs (milb.com has him at 5'7", 145, but that's supposedly generous).
Congrats to DRH...

As a 5'7" former
mediocre baseball wannabe, I’m rooting for him.

From Doug's Business of Baseball:
snips…. players who retired before 1980. In that year, MLB’s pension plan was amended to reduce the vesting period for pension benefits from five years to 43 days, and for medical benefits from five years to one day - but the amendments were not made retroactive to include them.

Good for him
Best of luck to him. I hated giving him up in that deal, but he’s a very good LOOGY and that’s about all he’ll ever be, imo.
There’s not a lot of ceiling there.
But I think (and hope) he has a very long career as a crafty little lefty everyone loves to root for.
The 40 trumps all!!!
Tom Gordon?
Wrong arm, was a starter, but he’s short and has had a loooooong career.
JD drinks the Angels milkshake.
lol
why am i not surprised?
According to published reports, Franco has been accused of associating with several members of the Bonanno mafia crime family. 1 The New York Times reported that the FBI believes that Franco gave several Bonanno associates free tickets to games, clubhouse passes for before the game, and frequently went out with them after games. Although Franco has never been accused of criminal activity relating to these associations, fraternizing with known organized crime figures would be a violation of major league baseball policy.

that doesn't tell the whole story
he came in with phillies on 2nd and 3rd in a one run game and no one out, and he went GO, IBB, K, K
The two Ks came against Howard and Burrell. It’s a good thing we had enough bullpen depth to trade him.
