That's why bunting Laird over was stupid.
Stupid, stupid stupid.
Bunt with a righty and a runner on second so you can get a lefty/lefty matchup.
stupid.
if he had been at first, maaaaaaaybe
but at 2nd? take three shots at the single.

except you bunted with a righty to bring up a lefty to try for the SF
not a lot of foresight there

I shacked up with a girl in Austin with two of them. I told her she should stop there, because tattoos are like cats…you can have one or two, and get away with it, but more than that, and you are the tattoo woman/the cat woman.
She didn’t listen.

For me, it depends what type, and where it's at
I’m not that much of a fan of tramp stamps, or tribal bands and the like, but if it’s something cool, I’m down with it.
by LSJ on Jun 5, 2008 9:35 PM CDT up reply actions
All very interesting responses here.
Just for the record, I have two. A star and flame on my lower back (but not low enough to be considered a tramp stamp) and a treble clef and eighth notes on the inside of my left ankle. I want a baseball-related tattoo as well, but I haven’t decided what or where, so I’m holding off.
But Adam’s right…tattoos are addictive. Can’t have just one.

I hope not.
Hey, it could be worse...
by HighPlainsGrifter on Jun 5, 2008 9:31 PM CDT reply actions
You guys have to stay strong.
MAINTAIN on trading bradley, it is neccessary for the survival of the franchise.
Pick 5
is supposedly a good high school 1B/OF. I believe the name Lars anderson was thrown out, and I really like that. He’s a high upside guy with a lot of natural power. He just needs to learn how to properly harness it.
All reports says good hands, strong wrists and pretty much everything you’d like to see from a good high school power prospect.
He’ll probably be too thick to play the OF. Think Chris Davis before Navarro, maybe
Pick 6
No joke, I actually looked at him for my 4th round pick on Sickle’s blog since I was looking for a college lefty. I settled on Scott Barnes of St. Johns, but I think the two are pretty interchangable.
Barnes has had more exposure, but Bleier is what he is. Lefty with low downside (LOOGY?) but low cieling.
Pretty meh.

its very difficult to maintain
noone we bring in can approach this next year.
of course, bradley wouldnt either.
just keep the man at DH, we cant let this monster season go unrewarded in trade by him getting hurt.
Bring up Justin Smoak
My solution
Offer him 2 years, $25 million, with a team option for $15 million for 2011.
If he doesn’t take it, deal him, and roll with Max as your DH/backup catcher next year, and get Brandon Inge to be your UIF/3rd catcher.
by Adam J. Morris on Jun 5, 2008 9:36 PM CDT up reply actions

+1 on Bradley, though.
by LSJ on Jun 5, 2008 9:39 PM CDT up reply actions

that's why i think you do something quick
and not wait till he gets on the FA market. I know you’ll bring up he’s never played a full season, but if he turns into a Oritiz type player, mostly DH and occastionally in right, i think he’ll play a lot more games and stay healthy.
But, like i’ve said twice before, something strong like 4yrs 40-44MM.
I'm leery of going that long...
...on a guy with his injury history, at his age.
And I don’t know if that would be enough to get it done.

Rare Gnats Sex
oh my, this offense is sick
i wouldn’t mind having JMJ play a couple weeks at 1st at AAA and bring him up and play him everyday at 1st up for Shelton.

I should have
applied for the MLB draft.
There are like 800 rounds, I had a chance to be picked.
"No bear or disco for Juan" - Mr. Santos
do you have to apply
or do they just draft?

NIXON: NOW MORE THAN EVER
ok
i just always heard stories of people finding out weeks later that they’d been drafted. guess that was the olden days. i know that you don’t lose college eligibility for getting drafted.

NIXON: NOW MORE THAN EVER
yeah- only if you actually sign.
heaps and heaps of draftees just don’t sign.

no need to apply
in the later rounds, they just pick random names from the phone book… that’s how Mike Piazza was picked in the 62nd round.

Wow
With the way our pitching staff has been bombed….and with us facing Lee and sabathia….
How the HELL did we split this series?
Good lord
that almost physically hurt.

hahah... good point.
and it so doesn’t seem like a split with how terribly our pitching was pulverized in the first 3 games.

Well, if I ever get a date set for me to go, I might take you up on that
We could have a mini-LSB day in Bakersfield.
However, at this point, my making it out there is more dream than reality…
by LSJ on Jun 6, 2008 4:04 AM CDT up reply actions
I'm all the way out toward the coast in Garden Grove
(also know as Garbage Grove by us locals). So it would be a pretty good drive all the way out to Bakersfield.

Not sure exactly how far, though
I’d have to mapquest it or something, and I’m not really sure I even want to know how far it is.

8 straight 0's on the scoreboard.

They play the same position
I don’t see the point.
It is like all those people complaining about not trading for Pau Gasol…there’s no way on earth you can have Gasol and Dirk on the floor at the same time.
by Adam J. Morris on Jun 5, 2008 10:24 PM CDT up reply actions
They wanted
Gasol at center.
That would have been a nightmare, defense of losers.
Sheed could play center though, more of a small ball lineup.
It isn’t happening though, because Detroit wants young talented players and draft picks for their starters. We have neither.
"No bear or disco for Juan" - Mr. Santos
ya
And sheed is older, so it would be pretty much a waste…. I mean Dirk was the only one who played up to expectations when Kidd came here. Hell, he even exceeded them.
