He took his eyes off of his target. He stepped into the punch way too much, he’s lucky he didn’t get dropped with a right hook to the face. Stay on your heels and punch what comes at you. Never, ever, ever step into your punch and try to land something that you’re probably going to miss. You’re just asking to get knocked out.

I’ve been in my share of fights. If I’ve learned anything, it’s to not be afraid of being punched. Take one if it means you can get 2-3 punches in.

Coming from someone who had a root canal due to a “surprise” headbutt.

The thing that strikes me is

Shields seems to be “delivering” his punch like he’s throwing a pitch, much like Scotty Feldman and his “sidearm punching” of Adam Kennedy back in 2006.

Is this some kind of pitchers instinct, perhaps, throwing punches like pitches?
