Its 20 Days till the trade Deadline, lets talk possiblities
Lets try and come up with some serious locations for some of the Rangers trade chips. The teams would require both need and prospects to get our trade chips.
Bradley-
Ariz (Byrnes out for the season and Upton going to the DL, would love Scherzer...)
Mets (Alou out for the season, Church has concusion issues, but iffy minor league system)
Stl (needs more to protect Pujols, would love Rasmus but....)
Tampa Bay ( would love to take ride in their minor leagues..., might not want Milton becasue of precived attitude)
Boston (Papi would have to be really hurt, which comsidering he just started taking BP...)
Min (just doesnt seems like thier type of move, better off working the left side of the IF)
NYY( Matsui needs another knee, and Hank can't wait)
THe NL teams are one that i ahve already seen discussions on both in print adn on message boards..
That leaves Millwood and Padilla, Laird/Salty/MadMax/Teagarden, Everyday Eddie, Cat, and Jamey Wright...
Add what other teams might be interested, and take a whirl at some of the other guys on the list...

Exactly
They may be willing to let him go, considering.

Why would you want to trade for a guy that had TJ last week?
That makes no sense.
Because
He’s a 95 mph LH arm that would be untouchable otherwise. It’s not 1991, most guys come back pretty well from TJ. It makes perfect sense.

It makes no sense
TB would be selling him at the point of lowest value.
We’d be buying a guy who needs a year or so to recuperate and who may or may not ever be as effective as he once was.
It’s illogical for either team.
Okay
So you’d rather get a middle of the road prospect over a guy that may take two years to be a stud.
It’s not illogical at all. You are buying extremely low on a top 20 (?) talent guy that will LIKELY return to form.
It makes sense for Tampa Bay because they are stacked talent wise and the fact that he is injured gives them a reason to sell him.
I’m not saying that they would do it, but you DEFINATELY don’t say no if his name is brought into the equation because he is hurt right now, which is what is being said above. It’s not a prospect for prospect deal a la McCarthy/Danks or Volquez/Hamilton. If you could turn a $5 mil (?) investment in Milton Bradley into Jacob McGee + something else and you don’t do it, you will regret it one day.

oh yeah
i do remember reading that somewhere now. So no Jake Mcgee.
Target Clayton Kershaw.. the hype has settled around him, maybe he could be had.
Stop
We’re not getting Kershaw, we’re not getting Buchholz, we’re not getting Scherzer, and we’re not getting Rasmus.
MB is an injury prone 30 year old outfielder who has been protected at DH and who is a FA after thus year. No team will give up a top 3 pitching prospect or a top 3 OF prospect for that.
McGee had TJ last tuesday. Pass.
Add Cain and any of the current Rays' rotation to that list

Forget MB...
I got an idea.
How about MY..
Michael Young, Vincente Padilla, Eddie Guardado, and a lower level prospect for Clayon Kershaw, Jonathon Broxton, and Andy Laroche.
Laroche plays 3rd, Vasquez at short until Andrus is ready.
No, stop it.
Young is not going anywhere, and Kershaw is not going anywhere either. Get realistic.
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.
Example please?
Plaschke: Scioscia, the former Dodgers catcher, is the model manager who has created an atmosphere of winning.
Junior:It's that simple. Mike Scioscia brings a Glade Plug-In labeled "Winning™" into the clubhouse and everyone who breathes it in gains 15 points in average.
No team is going to trade a stud pitcher for MY
And the Rangers aren’t going to give him away for scrubs.
That is why a trade isn’t going to happen.

It doesn't have to be straight up..
If that team needs a pitcher for right now… then Vincente Padilla could be included.. MY and the Pitcher would be just a start..
And like I said the right deal.. which means a very good pitcher would have to be involved, not a scrub.
Dude
No team is trading an ace pitcher for MY unless we include elite bats.
C.C. Sabathia —> LaPorta,Bryson, Jackson, PTBNL
Matt Garza --> Delmon Young
Josh Beckett—> Hanley Ramirez

Elite Bats
Why would one be disinclined to send elite bats for elite pitching. Thats what the Rangers need.
baseBALLIN!
Sure
but not centered around MY.

Ummm
Michael Young isn’t an elite bat???
200 hits for how many straight years?
He isn’t more elite than Delmon Young?
Nope. Not when salaries and age are factored in

Disagree..
Mike has at least 4 more years of good hitting left in him. Secondly salary won’t be a factor when it comes to teams like the Dodgers.
Dude come on
If the basis of your offer is MY/Padilla…you aren’t going to get even Kershaw’s jock.

MY, Padilla, Eddie, and a LOWER level prospect for Kershaw, Broxton, and LaRoche.
The Dodgers would laugh in your face.
That is just crazy.

by lower level
I mean below Double A… so a Kasey Kiker, or Derrek Holland, or Wilmer Font. Maybe even two of those.
Think of it this way
MY/Padilla/Eddie/Kiker/Holland is close to the equivalent of Andruw Jones/Penny/Beimel/and 2 good lower LA prospects.
Would you trade Davis/Harrison/MaxRam for that package?
C’mon be realistic here.

Well sir
you let your dreams get in the way of realistc baseball conversations.
Look, the #1 most valuable commodity in baseball right now is a young, cheap, good SP.
LA is not going to trade one of those for some aging, overpriced veterans and some prospect. When you throw in a dominant setup guy, and a good 3B prospect—you have officially entered Idiotville.

Dude
Give up. You’re in over your head. MY has limited trade value. You have to find a younger, cheaper, higher ceiling bat to get a legit ace.

Ugh
The abundance of redundant diaries is getting on my nerves. I think there was going to be more to the Hammer conversation, but it’s hard for that to happen with it pushed down the page. About 1/4 of these current diaries could be lumped into one. Most diaries are doing one of the following lately:
1. Hey I want to be the first to post some “big” news with little insight or evaluation!
2. I think I’m going to post some vague generalizations about what the Rangers need to do, such as listing teams without any realistic examples for a return!

Junior:It's that simple. Mike Scioscia brings a Glade Plug-In labeled "Winning™" into the clubhouse and everyone who breathes it in gains 15 points in average.
Just wait
until the trade deadline gets closer. Last year there were about 50 (and I am not exaggerating) diaries posted within about 36 hours of the trade deadline, many of them completely redundant.
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.
and we seem to have even more posters here now, so it’s going to be much much worse.
also now that posts are divided between posts and fanshots, makes the extra fanposts even worse because it pushes down actually decent pots.

When there is actual substance
and the rumors actually name Rangers players, I don’t mind talking about it. But we haven’t even gotten that far.
Yep
I had the diary setting at 40 a page, which meant that a new diary lasted about 12 hours…

Here's a good rule of thumb...
...if you aren’t sure your fanpost about trades is necessary, don’t do it.
If you are 99% sure it’s necessary, don’t do it.
If you’re 100% sure it’s necessary, type it up, wait ten minutes, and if you’re still 100% sure it’s necessary… delete it.

+1
These threads used to be somewhat entertaining when there was only one a week. Now it seems like three a day get posted. Half the trades proposed in them are incredibly unrealistic with no regards for the other teams needs.
As much as I’d like to trade Laird for Kershaw, Cat for Price, & Blalock for Bucholz it isn’t happening.

I was talking about an original thread getting pushed off the main page by this crap. Thus, severely limiting the potential it had. Get some comprehension skills.

No way we get Scherzer for Milton Bradley
0%.
Bradley makes more sense going to Tampa Bay or another AL team cause if he’s in the NL he has to field everyday.
Amen
We need to admit to ourselves that Bradley is not an outfielder, he is a DH, at least as far as this year’s trade market is concerned.
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.
and as for Scherzer
if the names Feliz, Kinsler or Hamilton aren’t mentioned, Scherzer ain’t coming to Arlington.
Bradley for Rasmus
Realistic for both sides?
It’s a no-brainer for the Rangers.
OK it would never happen. I just checked to see he’s definitely worked out his April and May issues. ANyway.

Vasquez
i really wonder what kind of value he would bring in a trade? i would think he would have quite a bit a value. what i would like to see the rangers do this deadline is not only sell everyday eddie, bradley, hank, vasquez , cat, bird, and laird, but i would like to see them packaged to get the maximum near ready pitching in return. for example, trade one of the mentioned vets with teagarden. package another with lemon. another with arias. so one and so on. trade from a position of excess to get better pitching. this will also allow the trading GM to say we are making this trade for both the push this year and without killing the future. i think this is something GM’s want to be able to tell thier owners and fans.
I think you can take Bradley off the wish lists of any NL contenders...
...I don’t anticipate him playing full-time or even almost-full-time in the OF the rest of this year.
Physician: Primum non nocere

In an attempt to actually have a real conversation
arizona makes a lot of sense if they feel he can play the outfield. Byrnes is locked up long term anyways and they have upton and young, so they wont need him past this year and they can collect the draft picks to offset some of the cost while picking up the best bat on the market.
Forget about scherzer, I think we all know thats not happening. If I had my choice though I would take jarrod parker over him anyways. He is pitching well in low A, but not putting up eye popping numbers. This is how you get ace type potential in trades, get them before they blow up ala feliz. He could be untouchable, but I think they might/should be able to move him for an impact player like MB.
I'm sorry my parents never had me sarcamsized.
If we trade MB
Logically, we’d get the most value from AL teams who can DH him. I don’t
see why any NL team would want to give up much of anything for him.
Thank you
He is a DH, no NL team is going to want him right now.
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.
are you a gm?
I find it hard to believe that no NL team will want him? I’ll buy into the argument that he might have lesser value to an NL team, but to say he they wont want him at all? Come on tball, you’re better than that.
I'm sorry my parents never had me sarcamsized.
Well he can't play the field for us right now
If I were a GM for a NL team I woudln’t want the risk either.

I'm not sure he cant
I think its more that we dont need him to. And yes it does help him not to have to play out there and get to dh. We have so many quality defensive outfielders we have the luxury of playing DH, so yes NL gms might value him less, but my point is that to say he doesnt have value is ludicrous.
I'm sorry my parents never had me sarcamsized.
trade proposal...
...i suggest we trade tyd3311, DaheelzCM, and miles to Lookout Landing for Robert and a blogger to be named later.

Bradley to the Mets?
Bradley for Wilmer Flores, Fernando Martinez and Eddie Kunz. How about that for a deal?
Bradley shouldn't be traded unless...
we are blown away by an offer and we don’t piss off Bradley because best case scenario is to rape a team in prospects and then resign him in the offseason.
Mets
The mets should be interested in Bradley and the proposal I mentioned is one we should take a look at.

what about
going after Atkins from Colorado. I realize it doesnt fit into the ‘seller’ mode that this thread implies we will be in, but i see it as giving us a boost for the rest of this year and next when we should have a real shot at contending. then we can let him walk and get the draft picks if he’s too pricey to sign.
i dont know what itd take to get him, but maybe Neil Ramirez/Duran/an A ball pitcher who’s first and last initial arent the same. I know i know, i hate to trade away a good pitching prospect but we do have a pretty deep system right now and if we can give away one of those guys and get something to help us in the bigs right now i think itd be worth it. Yes, Atkins road splits arent too pretty but i dont doubt he could duplicate the home numbers here in arlington.
on the other hand its probably a dumb idea. i just would like to see us make a move that keeps intact or improves our chance at making a real run down the stretch so that at least these young guys can have the thrill of being in a legit race, but without doing any real harm to our rebuilding plan.

Bradley will not go to the NL
his gimpiness of late will force NL teams to look elsewhere. The Rangers should only expect phone calls from AL teams in contention with a need for a DH bat.
This only applies to TB, NY, and MIN. I think TB may just continue to roll with Hinske/Aybar, although they are probably the best match. I doubt MIN wants much to do with Bradley.
Since you need 2 teams to create a bidding war, you would hope that the Yankees and Rays would fight over him with ultimately the Rays winning out since they have the better prospects to offer.
