Let's get Neftali Feliz in the Futures Game.
As we have all heard by now, apparently Neftali Feliz was originally tabbed to appear in the Futures Game, but was pulled by MLB because the league felt that Texas already had too many players in the game and there’s an effort to make sure each franchise is represented. Chris Davis, Max Ramirez, Elvis Andrus, and Taylor Teagarden were selected, giving Texas the most players in the game (along with the A’s and Phillies).
But Ramirez and Davis have now been pulled from the World roster since they are in the big leagues, and MLB has replaced them on their respective rosters -- not with others from the Rangers' system but with others who play the same position.
Here's the thing: MLB has replaced Ramirez, AZ infielder Emilio Bonifacio, and STL lefthander Jaime Garcia on the World roster, but has not yet replaced Phillippe Aumont, who is injured.
Does Feliz -- who is the number 12 prospect in all of baseball according to the Mid-Season Top 25 list that Baseball America published yesterday -- deserve the nod? His numbers are deserving, his buzz is at a level that you would think MLB would want to take advantage of, and I sure would like to see that low-outside-corner fastball register a 101 in Yankee Stadium.
Time is short, but make your best case. I'll forward this thread to MLB later today.

Feliz
If MLB is trying to showcase its best young players, why leave out a player who can dial it in at 100+ mph? Feliz’s pitching should give the game some added buzz.
Fire Ron Washington
if only
MLB would limit the number of Red Sox, Yankees, or Cubs that play in all star games. Do you think they would limit them in the futures game?

NIXON: NOW MORE THAN EVER
MLB
Even though you probably just assumed that the pitching-strapped Rangers would have elevated Feliz to the ML roster or traded him to another team ala Volquez/Danks/Chris Young, he’s still in the Rangers organization AND he’s still one of the top pitching prospects in baseball.
Just because that is hard to believe does not justify keeping him from the team.

I don't get it....Is it Feliz against the World?
Because if not, it’s kind of unfair, right?
what better story for the futures game
than a 20yr old who skipped high A and went straight to AA and is throwing 98-100 with ease?

Simply put: Feliz is the future.
Plus he’s earned it and the original reason he was left out in the first place is no longer valid.
Feliz
A player that is labeled as a top 25 minor leaguer and throws his fastball in the triple digits is the future, and deserves to be on the team.
Feliz needs to be on the team.
MLB...
Put Feliz on the roster or I’LL CUT YOU, SUCKA!
I blame it not on Ron Washington, but on society. Society is to blame. And Ron Washington. ~Ken Tremendous on Ron Washington sac bunting in the 11th vs LAA
Feliz
is the top Rangers pitching prospect and supposedly the #12 prospect in all of baseball. Put him in the game, or I really have no reason to watch.
Warner Madrigal is the Rangers most underrated prospect by a longshot; he SHOULD be be closing games within 3 years IMO. Matt Harrison is underrated too.
Sort it out
Too many players selected is NOT too many players selected when half of them disqualify for making the majors. It is a mystery to me (and thousands of others) why Feliz wasn’t the top choice in the beginning. Add him now, not so much in the interest of the Texas Rangers’ organization, but to improve the highight quality of the event.

Why would MLB want to make a decision
that would improve the overall quality of one of their events while also making it more exciting for fans to watch?
That’s just not Selig’s MO.
I’m dying to see Neftali throw, even if just for an inning.
Do it, MLB. You owe me that much.
The 40 Trumps All!!!
FSN
I remember somebody saying he was scheduled to start an upcoming AA game that was going to be aired on FSN but I don’t know when and I can’t find the thread.
Yeah
Tomorrow. There’s a part of me that hopes that he doesn ‘t make it so that I can watch him on TV for a whole start, rather than an inning, tops.

going to be hard for him to start tomorrow when he’s starting tonight

Good buzz, good story
As shroomer says above, if you don’t put him in now you might miss your chance. Get on board the Happy Train before it leaves the station. This guy is a budding star.

well, i guess this didn't work

I can't believe
MLB didn’t shudder at the tidal wave of support expressed here by over 20 people…
Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted.
The only things
That make MLB shudder are drug related investigations, and hints of anti-trust action. I think the most recent news about players’ view of the AllStar game deciding WS home field is representative. They don’t like it, find it ludicrous. MLB decided to PR it and promote it anyway.
