Marlon Byrd
Does anyone have any ideas what his worth is in terms of prospects? He’s been playing some awesome defense lately… Maybe some teams have noticed?

I imagine he isn't worth too much
I would like to get rid of him and give Cruz one more try.

pretty good lineup
still going to be tough, but just because its a good pitcher not because its simply a lefty.

very true.
although we didnt really score THAT much in the LAAA series.
6, 5, and 3 runs in the first 3 games.
hopefully 4-5 runs would get it done tonight… millwood really needs to show up.
and im not entirely sure, but with jenks out i imagine that masset will be their 7th or 8th inning guy, I know hes had pretty good numbers. so if its a close game we could possibly go directly from danks to masset, heh. although maybe he still has a lesser role, i dont know.

Hey, Jeff
Does the statue of liberty commercial on mlb.tv always made your feed stop, forcing you to click to start the stream over, like always happens to me?

Never had that problem.
I’ve actually come to enjoy MLB.tv this year.

I should mention that I can understand Victor Martinez perfectly
I really like my Klipsch computer speakers.
But yeah, 90 percent of the time, when the commercial for the team logo statues of liberty comes on, the feed stops. Maybe if I paid extra for the 800K feed it wouldn’t be a problem.

It’s occurred to me that Magglio’s the one that doesn’t speak English. Oh well. Can’t mess with tradition.
Maybe your feed stops because it’s protesting that awful, awful commercial.

But who is to say he would succeed at TBIA? Look at Volquez. Like it or not, he couldn’t hack it in Arlington.

My guess...
is the way he’s pitching so far this year he could’ve. The real question is would the Rangers staff have changed his arm angle?

Everyone wants to credit Volquez and Danks
with adjustments that our coaches were somehow unable to make.

It wasn't really directed at you
but what I’m saying is everyone wants to say that neither would have been this good in Texas because of the incompetence of our coaches.

What is your though on the subject?
by rcreative on Jul 12, 2008 6:30 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well
if it is our coaches’ inabilities to properly adjust our young pitchers’ mechanics, how are they suddenly going to be able to do that for Feliz, Beavan, Main, etc. So if it is really the coaches’ fault, they should be replaced.
Simultaneously, Volquez had clearly started to figure it out last year in the minors (in AAA 51 IP, 66 K, 1.41 ERA) and I think if he were still a Ranger he would be doing extremely well in our rotation.
I think Danks would also being doing well in TX. I find it hard to believe that both suddenly changed their mechanics and they become Cy Young candidates. More likely that had something to do with it, but also these top-tier prospects were allowed to “just pitch” in the big leagues.

not exactly what i was saying, but you have to admit something is weird with guys changing mechanics and then having success when our coaches didnt do that.
you cant say 100% neither would succeed in texas, but you also can’t definitively say they would have the same success.
and yes, i think the texas pitching coaches need to be changed

I think it's a legitimate question
whether or not our ML pitching coaching is up to snuff. How many studs did we have in the minors who come up here and don’t do crap and then excel somewhere else? It may be just a coincidence and we only remember the Volquez’ and Danks’ of the staff, but I still think there’s something to the idea.
