OT: Troll Rankings ASB edition.
Alas! The All Star break cometh! While it's obviously great to see the Rangers do what they do, (Congrats to Kins/Bradley/Hammy/Young) we all know the real reason why everybody was looking forward to the ASB....... Troll Rankings! I decided to do it differently this time and actually name reasons why certain people are on the list instead of just naming them without any explanation. So here they are in no particular order, The prospective trolls are:
Lbrooks: Defending champ, ranked #1 troll..... No explanation needed.
Clueless: Lives up to the name- notable Ranger basher.
OC: Dr Pepper to OC via Brian Thomas: You a troll fool! Resurrecting the power rankings in my absence? We were not amused.
Longhorn: You were requested on here last time, so you're on here again.
Saltygoesyard: Get some new shtick. We get it...... pitching wins championships. Damn.
Iorange555: I can't figure you out man. Sometimes I am sure you're a troll, other times I have no idea... I don't know, the people will decide.
Sharky: I guess he's our lovable troll? Every post he makes gets rec'd etc. Still a troll though.
TheAhmad: I am so interested to see what you would do as GM. No seriously, I always find myself wondering........... What Would Ahmad Do?
HurlerHurley: I hesitate to put HH on here because of his prolonged absence during this ratings period. That and I don't think he has made any trollish posts since he's been back. But how can I leave the #3 troll off the list?
Agreen07: Remember when I called him an up and coming troll and y'all were shocked? I'll let you decide if I was right or not.
Jayslick: Weren't on my radar till your comments yesterday. Not cool.
Miles: Has all the signs of a signature troll. Oh crap. I shouldn't have said that..... he's gonna beat me up. Scary stuff people.
Brettgardner: Too many fights with Ben. I mean a good fight is fine but, lawyer talk? Come on...... BORING.
Benmor78: See Brett.
Lonestarjohn: He is this periods version of NYTXFAN. Dubbed Baseball Jesus he gets on here for his knowitallness. He can bring some good baseball talk from time to time but let's face it, more often than not he is a beating. And.......wait for it...........wait for it..................Salty Sucks.
Angels Again: F THE ANGELS.
Alwestfan: Comes on here and links to his 3 sentences on his blog and leaves.
Dr Pepper.

I’ve never been #1 at anything before, so if I could net this, I’d be kind of stoked.
But just one thing dude… it’s lonestar J-o-n, not J-o-h-n.

If I was GM this team would be playing in a world series come 2009 and beyond.
Vote for me and you will surely get more of the good stuff, God-willing.

Allah is God in Arabic and since I was speaking English and not Arabic I said God. If I was speaking Spanish I would’ve said Dios (sp)
And how did I get busted? I’m a little lost here.

Umm
I’m Muslim and I think I know what we say. We say Allah because in Islam when we pray or recite the Quran we do so in Arabic. But there are non-Arab Muslims (only 20% of Muslims are Arab) In fact I have many American friends who converted to Islam and they use both Allah and God.
It’s quite simple and clear and not at all hard, not even for yougdawg ;)
Allah is Arabic for God
God is English for Allah
Dios is Spanish for Allah/God
Allah is also the word for God in Aramiac..that was the language Jesus (peace be upon him) spoke by the way.

biff pocoroba..
look if you have a problem with me that’s fine but leave my religion out of this and watch yourself. You or anyone else can come on here and disrespect me all you want or disrespect my baseball opinions all you want but once you start dissing my religion you’re crossing the line. I didn’t insult anyone’s religious beliefs on here nor do I intend to. No, I was raised better than that and my religion teaches me better than that but I guess we don’t adhere to the same code of rules, you and I.
Point is leave my religion out of this and say what you want about me, I don’t care honestly.
That goes to anyone else..You don’t like me that’s fine, I could care less but let’s keep the personal attacks away from this.

Re: biff
1) I don’t have a problem with you…really, I don’t know how you arrive at that. You have a penchant for saying wacky things on occasion, but I suppose none of us have a totally clean record in that regard, really. Still, I hardly think that my post rises to the level of a personal attack.
2) My comment was simply playing upon your own “playing in the WS” line above. It was not typed in malice, nor did I think that anyone would take offense.
3) You can’t play the “leave religion out of this” card in the same thread where you yourself broached the subject.
4) In one breath you use this condescending “I was raised better than that” tone while admonishing me for being insulting. Incredible.

My issue wasn’t who brought what up..my issue was you insulting my religion. I didn’t bring religion up in the first place, I was simply replying to a question someone asked me about religion on here and I replied. Again the issue here is not who brought what up, but the insulting part. You may not see what you saw as insulting but I do and I would appreciate it if you didn’t say such things. Thanks!

Also
If LSJ is to be included on this list, so should “blueballlefty” and “Rangers Capt”, his two nemesis. Those three have spoiled more threads with their arguments than I care to remember – they should all get equal credit for it. “Nice Hands” is another poster who is extremely irritating, although he has nothing to do with the other three.

Two things
1. I have never, ever, ever said that I think that a blog like this should only deal with baseball. I think that these sorts of blogs should fit the personality of the blogger, and Adam’s personality is definitely to joke around and talk about things other than baseball. I never, ever complain about off topic diaries or humor (that I think is the least bit amusing).
What made me start bitching about this stuff is that it led to a really, really stupid juvenile tone that overtook every conversation. I felt like that didn’t apply to most, but just a handful, and I think I was pretty clear on who I thought that was. My hope was that giving them a hard time would cause them to tone it down a little, but I was wrong, I way, way overestimated how many people were like me and completely beaten down by miles’ schtick and way, way underestimated how many readers of the readers here enjoy stuff that you usually hear in a 5th grade classroom. So…
2. As I meant to do but slipped up here, I’ll try to steer completely clear of them and not complain and ruin readers’ good times and make myself miserable while reading this blog. Where it really frustrated me was when it overtook any actually interesting conversation going on elsewhere, but maybe I can get ab’s tool to work.
My main concern is that this blog with, I don’t know, 20 or 30 guys with ideas and opinions that I love to read turns into ESPN 3.0. That used to have a lot of good posters who were chased away by trolls and jackasses completely taking over. Just for what that’s worth.
by Brett Perryman on Jul 14, 2008 12:06 AM CDT up reply actions 7 recs
I hear your concerns about the blog...
but I do think a lot of the people you are talking about are regulars here and enjoy this blog a lot and wouldn’t want to seriously jeopardize the health of the blog. As for the “5th grade classroom stuff”, while I find most of it entertaining, I don’t really think there has been that much of it since Miles’ thread got deleted, do you? I think there has been a lot of good baseball talk on here lately and will be especially over the next few weeks with the deadline looming.

between Miles’ thread and this one…I think both are fun and neither should be taken down unless someone is actually offended by being in the poll.

Agreed
I mean, if you see a poll by Ahmad, Dr Pepper, or whomever—just don’t click on it.
I dunno, I think it’s juvenile also….but particularly right now—there’s nothing else going on…who cares?

How LA Muscle Fag
did not make this list is ridiculous. Like the three musketeers, he, Miles and I roll together. And AirJordan comes along sometimes too.

haha + 1
You’re right and I’m proud to say that I’m one of the 3 misfits actually Longhorn is along for the ride too.
How bad a list can it be that includes my two partners in crime, the brilliant brettgardner, THE baseball jesus – not the impostor, hilarious Ben, the lovingly non-conformist Ahmad and Salts the shock jock.
If these boys are trolls then….well.. it must not be so bad. Looks more like the 2 cool for school club to me.
Milly I have no choice but to nickname you "The Laborer".
Every time I see you on the mound you're laboring through the inning.
You sure as hell don't labor when you hear Dunkin Donuts is closing in

Yeah, that's the ticket
Include Longhorn.
That helps your cause…

See Agreen?
You didn’t get his vote.
Plaschke: Scioscia, the former Dodgers catcher, is the model manager who has created an atmosphere of winning.
Junior:It's that simple. Mike Scioscia brings a Glade Plug-In labeled "Winning™" into the clubhouse and everyone who breathes it in gains 15 points in average.

Where is Ed Coffin on this list?
He said he would rather the rangers be competitive for 10 to 20 years instead of win a World Series.
If thats not a troll, then slap me and call me Wilmer Valderama.

RANGER BASHER?
How uninformed. If you read my comments prior to drinking, you would realize that I am clearly not a Rangers Basher. I AM a Jon Daniels Basher and a Tom Hicks Basher, as most knowledgeable baseball fans should be. It is most evident that Hicks doesn’t have a desire to win, as a primary goal. He does like to make money from illusion and self-righteous self-proclaimed baseball experts. Jon Daniels has no apparent interest in winning either. He does want to do what makes Hicks happy, and he wants to extend his paycheck as GM for the Rangers as long as possible without anybody figuring out his egotistical dismantling of the pitching rotation and his giveaway of the developing pitchers that coincidentally were not brought in by him. You guys blind?
I am an unabashed supporter of Ron Washington and Nolan Ryan because, unlike Hicks and JD, they want to win, know how to win, know what kind of team it takes to win, and are both baseball men.
All I’ve been around here is right…and some of you REAL TROLLS…and I’d name names if I thought they wouldn’t wet themselves…can’t admit they were wrong, rather resorting to name-calling and following up each other’s comments with a continuous pee-stream of +1’s.
