How The West Will Be Won - Eventually
MJH has an awesome comparison of the Ranger rookie postion players versus the rest of the division over at the DMN. Wow, we knew these rooks where having an impact on the future...but look at the "now".
While we all wait for these prospects to mature, and argue over usage, who is a 4th OFer, etc, they are soundly kicking the crap out of most of their positional brethren in the AL West.
Check it out, it's a great read!

Yep
It would be awesome to get two years of starter excellence (from within or trade) while waiting for the youngest now in the system.

I like Ranger Rod's comment
Milton Bradley’s #’s are surprisingly great considering how big his strike zone is…

not worded properly
Milton’s strike zone isn’t large, it is the umpire’s. It does seem like some umpires expand the strikezone when Milton is at the plate. I wonder if JD has said anything to MLB.

those 2 strikes he got in the 9th (is that right)
were total crap, even tag was furious about it. i really do think these umps are not treating him the same as every other player. officials are supposed to be bigger than that.
the best part is that milty is so pissed about it he’s destroying this season. otherwise it would be a major major issue.

my bad
but great comment. The plate grows 8 inches wider when he comes up and shrinks back when he leaves the batters box.

You think MLB is going to listen to JD!

In a few years
This team is going to be an Offensive Juggernaut.
Sadly, Hindman didn’t do the flip side comparison – young Rangers pitchers vs other division teams.

Very good writeup.
Unfortunatly I am a troll and must state for the record that
Without pitching, we are not going anywhere.

RIF!
Add these kids to the mix and you are looking at an offense that figures to tower over the division for many years to come at a price that gives the Rangers the financial ability to pounce on elite pitching.More on that issue tomorrow….

Problem with that
is why on earth would elite pitching sign here? Why would Sabathia sign here instead of some pitchers park in the NL? Unless they are willing to lap the field with a ridiculous offer I am not counting on Sabathia, Sheets or anyone else signing here.

I dunno
perhaps 8 runs per game of support will sway them? An elite pitcher would be almost a lock to win 20 here, every year…of course, barring health issues.
The real equation is where to sign=how much $. If a very good pitcher could easily win 15+ every year with this offense, they will take the hit to their ERA to get many more wins.
Also, this thing isn’t even close to topping out. Anyone who signs here will do so knowing that many young, elite prospects are bubbling up through the mnors, thereby insuring many years of continued success for them, and the org.

I hope
you’re right. I’m just setting myself up to be pleasantly surprised. I think it will help if the Rangers finish strong this year and look they’re on the cusp.

Oh, I agree on the set-up issue.
It is very counter-productive to get one’s hopes up on FA signings. I prefer to merely lay out the logical framework of why it would make sense, and let things happen that I have no control over anyhow.
I do think JD has enough trade ammo to aquire a young stud in the makings, and now enough savvy to execute correctly.
We shall see what MJH’s thoughts are in the morn.

I really do think the Rangers will moneywhip
either CC or Sheets.

2 years
I do hope within 2 years MJH does a pitcher comparison and the Rangers come out just as well.
