Good for laughs - Teixeira Rumor Mill
If you haven't already, venture over here to read some wonderfully naive Braves fans throw out their trade hopes and dreams for Teixeira. The best part is that the names are almost identical to the names we saw thrown around last year. To the Red Sox for Youkilis, to the Dodgers for Loney AND Kemp.
The best proposed trade had the Braves sending Teixeira, Ohman, and Lillibridge (a package that varies from the one we sent last year by one less year of Teixeira and one more C level prospect in Lillibridge) for Youkilis AND Buchholz.
Nice.
I have a feeling we have already seen the major fireworks for this year's trade deadline.

Not Happening
The Sox won’t even take Tex for Youk straight up. So is Bucholz worth Lillibridge and Ohman? Umm…...NO!

I could be wrong
but I still think the Rangers and Red Sox match up better than any other teams out there. they need a young catcher and they could need a DH to replace Ortiz. They have young pitching and a few bullpen arms on the cusp. This team can afford to trade Bradley and Salty or Teagarden for Michael Bowden, someone like Daniel Bard or Hunter Jones (two guys who take the two open spots on the 40 and who could be auditioned with the big league club for the rest of the year), and then a third player like one of their young OFs (Reddick, Kalish, or Lin). Maybe I am just as naive as the aforementioned Braves fans, but that would seem like a decent deal for both parties.

We match up well with the Reds, as well
Not for unloading vets necessarily, but for lessening the catching surplus and bringing in talented young pitchers who may have a hit a proverbial wall at their current stop. (Sound familiar?)

sir
it sounds like you are talking about homer bailey.
i suppose, if we really want to throw out crazy scenarios, we could include teagarden in the hypothetical red sox trade and salty in the hypothetical reds trade and still have Laird and Ramirez as our catchers.
but that is pretty out there.

they have some really nice positional prospects
and most of them are a little further down the prospect chain. I really like reddick, anderson, kalish, and even lin though I dont know much about the last one other than some recent hype, but I didnt know much about beltre before we were in talks to acquire him.
I am a little skeptical on bowden. I wasnt too disappointed when we opted for gabbard + beltre over him probably because I have never been that high on him. You have to be careful when dealing with prospects from both new york teams and boston, and to a lesser extent atlanta. Those teams enjoyed so much success in the 90’s and get so much publicity, that often their prospects get over hyped. That may or not be the case here, however I have heard his velo has been down and his command so-so. Take it for what its worth, maybe the scouts caught him on bad outings and he is fine, I am just not sure I by into him as anything more than a number 3 type pitcher at best.

Adenhart
interesting to read that the Angels may build a package around him for the Braves to get Tex. Sign about how much Adenhart may have fallen this year on the prospect radar more than anything else.
The Angels are the only team from which I wouldn’t mind the Braves getting a stellar return from. Though really, from what we’ve seen of Andrus, Feliz and even Harrison and Salty, there is pretty much no way that any deal for Tex will get within a mile of what we got.

+1
I wouldn’t mind that. We are not passing the Halos this year anyway. Let them get the two draft picks next year.

If they get a single player
as good as Feliz, I will be surprised.
