Home Run Derby Thread

Tonight's the home run derby at Yankee Stadium, and Josh "Our Surpreme Overlord" Hamilton will be participating. I expect him to hit eleventy billion homers, and then cure cancer on the way out.

I can't say that I'm excited about ESPN broadcasting the event, especially with the awful combination of Chris Berman and Joe Morgan. But it's good publicity for the Rangers.

Bodog has the Derby odds up, and our boy is the favorite:

Josh Hamilton: 3/1
Lance Berkman: 7/2
Chase Utley: 5/1
Justin Morneau: 5/1
Dan Uggla: 6/1
Ryan Braun: 6/1
Grady Sizemore: 13/2
Evan Longoria: 7/1

I'm not going to be posting tonight, because I'll be playing the Home Run Derby drinking game instead.

So, for all of Ham's dingers tonight, I offer this:

The GREAT HAMBINO...

will steal the show…he already has lol.. see all the pre-batting coverage?

Milly I have no choice but to nickname you "The Laborer".
Every time I see you on the mound you're laboring through the inning.
You sure as hell don't labor when you hear Dunkin Donuts is closing in
15 minutes, sat there with a chocolate eclair with 5 minutes to spare.

Hammy has really high expectations on him

hes obviously got it in him, but man.. hes got the most pressure on him of any of the participants.

has

that ever bothered him?

Warner Madrigal is the Rangers most underrated prospect by a longshot; he SHOULD be be closing games within 3 years IMO. Matt Harrison is underrated too.

I just hope Hamilton's pitcher can hold up to the pressure...

I’m nervous for the old guy and hope he doesn’t have to throw like 5 pitches for every good one for Josh to hit. It might get tense out there if so.

Could they have picked a more awful threesome to announce this?

No kidding

If I have to listen to Berman say “back, back, back, gone” on EVERY FREAKING HR BALL tonight, I’m going to need a lot of alcohol to get through this. Adding Morgan and Steve Phillips just makes it worse.
