Why not?
The same people pencilled in Jennings. Crazy.
McCarthy is going to be 0/0/0/0/0/ this year.

For Fun
It is also fun to look to the future…have something to work towards as fans…it’s been a difficult stretch so it is exciting to think about the future sometimes…also it would be fun to do the 2009 lineup (25 man) so people will quite proposing stupid trades.
Just try to come up with a 25 man roster…it is exciting and make you want to go down to TBIA to watch a game with the overflowing excitement.

yeah right...good luck with that!
They aren’t coming to Arlington…Derek Lowe is a sinker ball pitcher…isn’t that what JD is looking for in pitchers in Arlington

I am curious as to how you think we are going to get some of these players
especially jason saltalamacchia. Is that guy even playing professional baseball?

I heard
that Ian Gold has a chance to a be a real beast in the infield. He can really hit and play defense, but struggles catching the ball.

Lowe
Don’t want him. Gonna be 36 and he seems like the pefect type of pitcher that benefits from his ballpark. He plays in a very pitcher friendly park which helps that sinker out. Plus he will probably be looking for about 10-12 mil per year which if we are going to offer that much we might as well offer 15-17 to get Sheets. As for my 25 man.
C: Salty, Teagarden, Max
IF: Davis, Kinsler, Young, Metcalf, Duran
OF: Hamilton, Murphy, Boggs, Mayberry Jr
DH: Bradley
Salty and Tea will platoon behind the plate with Max getting some DH ABs since Bradley will be able to play the field by next year. Duran and Metcalf will be a 3B duo with Duran also helping out elsewhere in the IF. Mayberry Jr can sub at 1B when Davis needs a day off.
SP: Sheets, Millwood, Padilla, McCarthy, Hurley
RP: CJ, FX2, Benoit, Madrigal, Rupe, Rheinecker, Wright
Harrison, Mendoza, Gabbard, Mathis, and Murray should be the first line of replacements when injury strikes which will allow us to keep Hunter off the 40 man as long as possible.
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

Mayberry Jr
He played there in college and if I remember right they played him there a few times in the minors this year. He wouldn’t be a permanent 1B but could play once a week if Davis needs days off

Laird not Salty
I really think it will be Salty that gets moved. With Laird being hurt it will not be easy to trade him now. I also think the Rangers have noticed his value with his five tools now that he has been down. Salty still has that mystery factor from other teams he have the visions of a power hitting catcher as the result better trade value. I see Tea as a player who can come up as the backup catcher and be happy by playing every 4th day and be happy with it . He will get his chance by way of injury or making the most of his opportunities when given. This will leave Max on the roster even if we resign Bradley as a 1st,C,DH.

i want to do 2010, not 2009
Here’s my $95M team salary for 2010:
SP1 John Lackey (North Texas connections)
SP2 Rich Harden (I think he proves he can stay healthy, if he can’t, I don’t sign him)
SP3 Eric Hurley
SP4 Neftali Feliz
SP5 Brandon McCarthy
Closer Madrigal
RP Francisco
RP Feldman
RP Nippert
RP Rheinecker
RP Rupe
RP Wilson
C Laird
1B Davis
2B Kinsler
SS Andrus
3B MY
LF Murphy
CF Hamilton
RF Boggs
DH Bradley
BEN Saltalamacchia
BEN Duran
BEN Borbon
BEN Mayberry Jr.
OKC would be hosting:
SP Beavan, Harrison, Kiker, Main, Mendoza
RP Diamond, Loe, Murray, Mathis, Littleton
would also have Smoak, Teagarden, Arias, Metcalf, and Max Ramirez (obviously 1 of Teagarden or Ramirez would have to have been traded)

Interesting takes
Couple of thoughts.
- even if I’m Jon Daniels, I couldn’t predict the 2009 end of spring training roster now.
- Adam Dunn? Horse, badly beaten, reduced to glue that doesn’t stick.
- new, front of the rotation starting pitcher(s) will cost some of the talent you show in positions on the roster.

Agree
exercise in futility. Don’t see the point in looking that far down the line when we have the drama of what they are going to do the next couple of weeks right in front of us. Don’t want to encourage any more of those diaries either, but can we just discuss the topics of the day.

all trade talk should be referred to the trade discussion thread, rec it if you want to keep it up there. It seems to be working so that would be pretty sweet if we could keep it all to one big thread.
As for all the predict the roster games, I agree with badradio, lets wait till after the trade deadline at the very least. While these types of games can be fun sometimes, right now few people do it and the little conversation that does develop is mostly people bitching about the thread. Lets centralize the trade talk and eliminate all other speculation until after the trade deadline and LSB will be a much better place.

not sure what happened there, but im blaming it on the ambien. the second part should have read more or less like,
As for all the predict the roster games, I agree with badradio, lets wait till after the trade deadline at the earliest. They never really generate much discussion and what little they do is mostly made up of whining and complaining about the thread itself.
Im sure I the rest was much more eloquent and would have changed your lives for the better, but as mentioned previously the ambien is most definitely kicking in now, so to sum up, trade talk good, goes in trade post, rec it if you want to keep it up there so we can have a centralized trade thread and no more complaining about how many there are. Roster predictions bad, dont do them until after the trade deadline at the earliest. LSB and new posting guidlines, hawkalicous, break them at you own peril.
