Gotta Question: Rangers in HD
I finally brought myself into the 21st century the other day as I purchased a fancy TV and upgraded my sat package to include high def.
I have dish network, and no other options. It's a long story but that's the way it is. Anyway, it seems that either DN doesn't offer channel 27 in HD or channel 27 themselves don't broadcast in it.
FSN does have an HD channel, but in the guide it doesn't have any programming. If you tune to it, it just says "check back here often to see if your favorite team is playing in HD" or something like that.
So, are all the Rangers' FSN games going to be broadcast in HD, or just some of them? If it's only some of them, is there a way to know in advance which ones are and which aren't? I've been recording the Rangers games and tuning in about an hour or so in, so there's enough time to skip through all the advertising. I can set a manual timer for the FSNHD channel to continue doing this, but obviously it would be handy to know which games will be on it.
Thank you in advance, my amigos.

Rangers in HD
I believe every home game is now in HD on either fsn or 27.
as far as 27, you can get that in over the air with an antenna.

I have Dish also
and I don’t get the 27 games in HD. I think if you go to radio shack and buy a separate antenna, you can pick up those games though.
You can look at this list: http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20080327&content_id=2462107&vkey=pr_tex&fext=.jsp&c_id=tex
But, I think I’ve looked there before and it wasn’t always in HD.

only some of the FSN games are on HD, but the channels are both 416 now so thats better. you just gotta check both channels as the game starts
the pre and postgame shows arent in HD or on the HD channel 416 only the games are.
Uverse and DirecTV both have it. im in the same boat as you guys.

other FSN
The other FSN channels will sometimes have the games in HD. For instance when the Rangers played in Houston, channel 446 had the game in HD but with the Astros broadcast team.
Signature! I don't need no stinking signature!!

Thanks for all the answers
I wish they’d put it in the program guide.
Thanks again.

Verizon
Every game shown on 27 is in HD.
FSN HD shows games about 2/3 of the time the Rangers are on FSN

That's good to know
Baseball in high definition is awesome. I’d seen parts of games before, but the All-Star Game was the first that I got to see in its entirety, and boy does it make a difference.
Too bad I can’t use an antenna to get 27. I live in a loft, surrounded by bricks and cement. When I first moved in last summer and was waiting for them to install everything, I tried an antenna and couldn’t get anything. It’ll have to wait until Dish Network offers it.

Can't get that link to work
But I used a pretty fancy antenna. Problem is, you could say my loft is directional. I live in the old sears building just south of downtown. My floor is cement. My ceiling is cement. My walls are brick. For some reason I can get a couple of radio stations on my stereo, but nothing else. My windows look toward Fair Park, and apparently no TV broadcasts from that direction. I know WFAA has some kind of tower downtown and I could get a very, very snowy picture of channel 8. Literally nothing else made it through.
I live in sort of a corner of the building, obstructing anything from the North. Cedar Hill, where I think all the broadcast towers are, is diagonally across the whole building, which was constructed like a fortress. If I lived across the hall I could probably get anything I wanted over the air. Maybe if I lived on the ninth or tenth floor I could, too, but I’m a little below that.

They are all broadcast in HD, but...
the road games are rarely filmed in HD.

On FSN games...
Check the Broadcast schedule on the Rangers website here:
http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/schedule/broadcast.jsp?c_id=tex
That shows you which games are on FSN-HD and which are only on FSN-SW. Pretty much all home games are in HD, but the road games maybe 1 out of 10 are.
