Taylor Teagarden called up
Taylor Teagarden's contract has been purchased, per the S-T, and Kam Loe is being sent down to make room for him.
Hank Blalock is also supposed to be activated today, and presumably, Joselo Diaz is being sent out to make room for him.
If Diaz is DFA'd, the there's no need to make room on the 40 man roster for Teagarden, since he can take Diaz's slot. If Diaz is just optioned, or if Diaz isn't sent down, then presumably Jason Jennings will move to the 60 day d.l.
UPDATE -- As expected, Loe has been optioned and Diaz DFA'd.

Teagarden
He’s from my high school alma mater, and his mom is still one of the counselors. Do CHS proud!

It is so crazy how basically all of the upper level position prospects have made their way to the big club. I’m excited about getting to watch Teagarden again. He is fun to watch run a game.

Not ideal
But it will be cool to see him play.
Plaschke: Scioscia, the former Dodgers catcher, is the model manager who has created an atmosphere of winning.
Junior:It's that simple. Mike Scioscia brings a Glade Plug-In labeled "Winning™" into the clubhouse and everyone who breathes it in gains 15 points in average.

So..
I guess he’s not going to the Olympics?

Supposedly...
...this will only be for a few games. He can still go.

Oh, and also
I wonder if this has anything to do with Millwood’s pickiness when it comes to who calls his games.
by chief on Jul 18, 2008 4:50 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
If that is true
I would tell Millwood to F off and talk to me when his ERA+ is a little bit higher (currently at 81).

I think it's a combination of that
And a lack of confidence in Max’s ability to throw out dudes like Gomez, Span and Casilla

Carrolton
In an odd twist, all the girls from my church youth group lived in Carrollton, but they wound up at Newman Smith.
I have a lot of great memories of going to dances at whatever the junior high is. I don’t know why I’m blanking. My first girlfriend went there.

Jason Jennings
Why in creation is he not on the 60-day d.l.? Have they just not needed that spot?
See what happens when Smoak signs I guess…

Whats the big deal
Have we lost anybody because we didn’t have a spot on the 40 that the injured Jennings was taking up?
Im not certain but I believe it may be one of those nice things clubs do for players. If hes on the 60 day he may not be eligible for certain benefits that others are. Sorta like a couple years ago when the Rangers brought up Chad Allen. The guy was a scrub, minor league lifer. But we had a spot open and he could occupy the spot on the bench. But by bringing him up he not only got ML pay but he got ML insurance and I believe he was having like his 4th or 5th kid at the time. One of those things clubs do as good gestures to players.
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

Agreed somewhat
I don’t think we’ve lost anyone because of Jennings, and is nice to give a guy a cup of coffee. But Jennings should be fine financially. He’s not a career minor leaguer.
Nothing pithy here. Please move long.

Yeah
And don’t particularly care if he doesn’t.
by Adam J. Morris on Jul 18, 2008 6:31 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
yeah he won't get claimed...
but they might not want to lose a guy who threw 96 in his last outing. Have you seen the other relief scrubbs that are still hanging around AA/AAA? Here is hoping that a few more of those guys get bumped onto Newberg’s “where are they now” list of former rangers in the international leagues when some guys get promoted.
