Happy birthday, Jose and Ozzie Canseco

Jose and Ozzie Canseco turn 44 today.

Like the Ho, Jose is someone where you either have to say a whole lot or almost nothing.

So I'll just wish him happy birthday, and encourage you to check out this Rick Reilly feature piece from 1990 on Canseco, that Reilly did for SI.

And here's some audio, as well:

Happy birthday

Ahh

I will never forgot Jose’s birthday. I was at this game: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TEX/TEX199407012.shtml

It lasted into July 2, and when Jose came up to bat after midnight and they announced his birthday, my friends and I all yelled “HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSE!” from our cheap seats way up high. There were maybe 2000 people left by then, and we echoed through the ballpark. He tipped his helmet to us and stepped up to bat!

That was my favorite ballpark moment, everyone should go to a double header at least once in their life. Especially one where Gonzo knocks a grand slam right in front of their seats to win the first game. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TEX/TEX199407011.shtml

1994 Tigers

Playing for the Tigers in these games: Mickey Tettleton and Mike Henneman

Mickey became a Ranger the next season. He was greatness.

Henneman was traded to Houston in 1995 for Phil Nevin, then signed with the Rangers in 1996 for their first Division Championship.

Well

I guess I better post just because of my avatar.

Nothing pithy here. Please move long.

Jose...

Good or bad, he’s still the reason I’m a Rangers fan, and I love him for it.
