New DMN Rangers newsletter up

Evan Grant has a new Rangers newsletter up...

He provides an interesting response to my question about why Ryan Roberts isn't up here right now, which would allow German Duran to play every day in AAA, along with addressing the catching logjam and the potential backup of outfielders...

Check it out...

Glad You asked that Question Adam

I’ve been wondering what the thinking behind Duran not getting AB’s consistently at OKC was. Especially when you have a capable Roberts there that could at least do as well as Duran…..........

I guess it just boils down to....

whats better for the player:

consistant at-bats in AAA

or

inconsistant at-bats in MLB.

I'm worried less about Duran's lack of ABs

than Max’s lack of playing time. But this is an issue for both.

If Max is going to get only sporadic playing time, wouldn’t it be better to get a veteran waiver wire catcher that might be able to tutor Salty on some finer points of catching while Max goes back to raking in the minors?

I see Duran as being a nice complimentary player on a good team, while I think that Max can be an elite run producer. Duran’s development and playing time should be a consideration, but Max’s needs to be a priority.

Evan

You can immediately strike Mendoza from your list of reliable pitchers.
