DH and Ortiz

I’m too lazy to look it up – is David Ortiz supposed to be healthy for the all-star game, and if not, it is out of the question that Bradley may be put in as the starting DH?

if ortiz is voted in the manager can put whoever he wants from the roster on that spot. bradley would be the best choice

i believe i heard yesterday that ortiz would be voted in, but not attend due to injury. that opens a spot for the DH and it was mentioned they might pick bradley to fill it.

I saw an article recently

that said if Ortiz is voted in, he will go but not play, out of respect for the fans that voted him in. I think that’s kind of dick to more deserving players, but whatever…

I didnt read the article, but I dont see ortiz doing that at the expense of a roster spot. Ortiz is by all accounts as nice guy and the gesture in and of itself is being done out of humility. I dont know the rule but if a player is elected or chosen to go the all star game gets injured, I believe he is still allowed to attend.
