he’s 1 for 7 in his much-heralded return, necessitated to build his trade value.

last year he was 2 for 4 with HR in his return – .405 for the month.

in addition to him providing nothing, the team is 0-2 outscored by 18. if you are asking if my comment was sarcastic, maybe i should have made it more obvious.

Creative sign day

I remember going to a game in 2004 with a friend of mine. His idea for a sign was “I like my catcher’s Rod and pitchers Young” on a Chris Young-Rod Barajas day.

-The Outlaw

by Gdawg on Jul 20, 2008 1:51 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Do we have another Tex/AGon situation at 1B?

If Smoak develops as quickly as everyone assumes. Davis seems to be very capable at 1b.

by LiamP on Jul 20, 2008 1:53 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't see any reason to move Davis off first now

I think the Rangers will approach that problem when it arises. Right now, Davis is destroying the ball and playing great defense at first while Smoak hasn’t even signed.

-The Outlaw

by Gdawg on Jul 20, 2008 1:56 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I agree.

Moving Davis off first now would be asinine, I was talking about a future logjam. Smoak profiles as a GG caliber 1B, and Davis isn’t bad at all. Plus, I don’t see a reasonable scenario where we don’t get Smoak signed.

They haven't been able to buy a break this series.

Overall, they’re hitting like crap, but it seems like every time somebody actually makes good contact, it’s been right at somebody or just foul, or with just not quite enough power behind it. Very frustrating.

And CJ better not suck today.

Yup Hammy had the day off...

Offense, I think it’s a combo of facing good pitching, getting back in the groove after a few days off, and Rudy Jaramillo back in DFW for surgery and not with the team.

No...

they could make up 5.5 games against one team.

It’s the 4 teams to pass part that gives the Rangers a slim and none chance of that happening.
