Ten trades in Ten days/ with a poll

So for fun I decided to do a poll for the next ten days to build some suspense up to the trade deadline.  The poll is based on Ten trades I would make if I were GM.  And I'd like ur opinion too.  After ten days we will go and look at what our new 25 man roster could look like.  Any major prospects we get back Im gonna slot into the 25 man.

I'm gonna count last nights poll, but I honestly think a deal could be done without giving up either Andrus or two of the pitchers I listed so I'm gonna edit that trade.  Right now I'd say I think Minni would listen with just a package of Bradley, Blalock, and Elvis. to be honest.  They don't need a package of prospects back, but rather offensive help right now.  So that's the trade I would do-Blalock, Bradley, and Elvis for Liriano.  Now on to my second trade-

Breaking news, the Rangers trade Vincente Padilla and Nellie Cruz to the Yankees for Alan Horne and Austin Jackson.

Desparte times call for desparate measures.  The Yankees need some stability in their rotation and Pads can do just that.  He is working deeper into games, and could benefit from a catcher like Posada that can call a game.  I wouldn't expect anything less then those two prospects back for Padzilla.  I think Cruz being a throw in gives the Yankees an option to not re-sign Abreau this winter.

Padzilla and Cruz for Horne and Jackson?

Padilla

yesterday he showed why he should be kept around for at least next season unless you get blown away with a package for him. Horne and Jackson don’t do it for me. Padilla has nasty stuff and is capable of shutting a team down on a given night. We look to be in the thick of things next year and as much as we love to say we are going to sign a Sheets or Sabathia or trade for a Greinke or whatnot. Padilla is ours and unless a team blows me away I keep him.

Padilla

I would hope for more from him, like maybe him being in the epicenter of a blockbuster.

Like maybe Vinny+a catcher to the Reds for Homer Bailey and Matt Maloney.

I would try to trade

Salty and Vincent for Bailey, Francisco, and Maloney.

I think you can debate that Salty’s value is the same as Bailey

I also think Vincent’s value is the same as Maloney and Francisco.

Well, they are supposedly willing to part with Bailey

And they need a catcher badly. So you never know…

Again

Although it’s great to have spent time evaluating who could come back in different trade scenarios, the Rangers should be listeners not out pushing the market. Be opportunistic, yes. Be talent mining for players who can make a difference long term, yes. Push your vets to see what they can bring, no.

Ed,

I do agree, but Im just having some fun. Maybe I could start doing Vets for prospects trades. I dunno I’ll figure something out. This is a work in progress.

Yeah, right.

LOL

Yeah but maybe they want to get younger at RF. Granted Abreau’s numbers are very good, but how long can he keep it up? A replacement needs to be found at some point.

It won't be Nelson Cruz

Would his 1 yr of ML service qualify him as a “kid” even though he would be 28?

BigBadBubbaJ!

You know, I was all set to compliment you on your improved writing.

But then you mispelled the word desperate two different ways in the same sentence.

With Posada out for the year...

I’m thinking we’ll send NYY a Catcher – and soon! Maybe we should be thinking Phil Hughes and not Alan Horne?!?

we should keep padilla

despite his rather tempestuous history here, he’s got good enough stuff to pitch like an ace 20 times a year. sure, hell have a few boner starts and those are frustrating. the deal you proposed doesnt do much for me so id rather just keep him. i think if we are ahead of the curve and will indeed be contenders next year, having padilla in the rotation will be a huge part of it.

I want something much better in value in return for Padilla.

Maybe I’m trying to sell high or something, but I really think Padilla is worth more than that.
