Cheapo Hicks and Jonny Boy are clueless!
Yet again this sorry management team has messed up. A quality arm like Randy Wolf is on the market and they do nothing. Don't they know pitching is what wins championships, not hitting? They should have been all over this. Wolf's 6.63 road ERA would have fit right into the Rangers rotation and allowed them to get one of those overhyped "prospects" like Hurley or Mendoza back in AAA where the media can continue to fawn all over them.
You lemmings on this board need to just get over your Jon Boy love. He messed up again. If he'd been paying attention this month the team could've had Sabathia, Harden, Durham, Blanton, and now Wolf. That is what the Rangers need, more pitching and veterans, not a bunch of never-will-be's who've been overhyped by the Jon Boy worshippers. Cheapo Hicks probably didn't want to spend the extra money. Enjoy the second half lemmings, the Rangers blew it again!

So
Why is it you think it’s smart not to have Adum Dunn on your team?

Dunn
I’ve never been a big Dunn fan. I know that he hits all the marks in the sabermetrics system, but I think that it just doesn’t translate well. First, he is horrible with RISP. I know RBI is an overrated stat but RISP is not, IMO. Second, he is horrible defensively. Third, I agree with lots of folks who think his skills are going to deteriorate big time. Fourth, I think he is a bad team guy. This is just what I’ve read, but I think he was one of the main guys complaining about Hamilton last season. Fifth, I think he is best suited to hit leadoff or second, or like sixth. And that is a lot of money to commit to a guy in one of those spots. Sixth, for the Rangers in particular, I don’t think they need any more lefty mashers.
Those are my reasons. I understand why people like him and I think this is a gray area sort of argument, but there you have it.

RISP
career: 885 OPS.
this year? : 901 OPS.
That IS horrible.
He’s also rather ‘clutch’.
And, he’s having a better year this year than last or the year before that…not much ‘deterioration’ there.
This guy is freaking beast…and if he continues this, it’s HOFer numbers.
And he was the one who complained about Hamilton? Lnk plz?
Josh Hamilton is better than you.

Batting average
with RISP is .231, which is not very good. I think that is a pretty important evaluation point. When he hits it, he hits it well, but he is just as likely to strike out, which is bad. And, I think if he were really that great that more teams would be after him right now. He is certainly available, the Reds didn’t even really want to bring him back. He should be a great fit with the Yanks but they aren’t interested. That should say something too. As for a Hamilton link, I don’t have one but it is what I recollect, so there you go.

Milly will turn it around once Gerry comes back...
McCarthy will breathe new life into the rotation.
...Saunders will flop. Santana will flop. and if neither of those happen, one of their pitchers will go on the DL after the deadline.
we will split the series with them in August… sweep them at home in September, and win the away series to close out the season.

I sort of wish the Rangers had been in on the Rauch trade talk. Bonaficio is a fine prospect and all, but we are currently shitting middle infield prospects, and Rauch is under control for two more years after this one.

Dunn is a big, tall, strong athlete who exudes power. Shoot, people can barely walk ten paces behind him it’s so overpowering. And in no way is he a baseball player. Between lifting his giant feet one before the other, and laboring to fling that minaret like body over those oversize pedals, watching him run is very much like watching soil erosion on a tributary of the mighty Mississippi. Oh he hits long home runs sometimes, but it appears to be when through cosmic equilibrium his bat arc coincides with a mistake pitch. Sure, yeah, you bet, he’d be somebody to trade for. While his salary is roughly equivalent to the gross national product of most Central American countries. Right.

Don't need anything.
They’re out of the race. If they weren’t, they’d need pitching…the hitting isn’t the problem.
