Six trades in Six days-nearing the end everybody

Allright, lets jump right into it then.  A very close vote on yesterdays proposed trade.  However, 38% over 34% of lonestarballers said no.  That stinks but in reality, Chicago isn't pressing for a third baseman so I could see why many voted no.

We move onto the NL for the remainder of our activity.

So todays trade will, won't and would never happen, but I think its a very good conversational piece so that's why Im gonna suggest it.  Both players are looked upon as future building blocks for both orginizations.  It involves the LA Dodgers.

Breaking news: The Texas Rangers trade Josh Hamilton for The Dodgers Clayton Kershaw, Andrew Jones, and cash considerations.

Discuss because this is a fun one.  I do not advicate ever trading or thinking of trading Hammy, but in order to get a pitcher like Kershaw, Im afriad Hammy would have to be the one involved.  I just dont think Kinsler gets it done by himself and he is our next best major league trading chip.

READ ME BEFORE YOU POST AND VOTE.  The Dodgers do not need a center fielder but could use a huge upgrade over Jones.  They have a slight logjam in the outfield but by throwing in Jones they can slot Hammy in center.  They would need to pay his salary however.   We get a replacement in center until Borbon is ready.  And if Andrew busts, then we could always use The Murph and Boggs there.

yeah...

...don’t see how that a) clears up their “logjam” in the outfield or b) how they’d take hambone, who as great as he is, can’t give you 162 games, for an upcoming ace under control for years in kershaw…

Welll

From what i hear, the owner has alot of say in baseball matters…. if thats the case, Josh Hamilton makes you more money than Clayton Kershaw, so they might do it.

I wouldn’t do it, Im not trading arguably the most talented player in the game for an unproven pitcher, who plays once maybe twice a week.

Aug 1st cant get here quick enough

Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

seriously...

i enjoy this exercise when talking with knowledgeable baseball people – but these are such “crazy hypotheticals” that it feels like we’re trying to decide if we should take the Muser’s hole-in-one challenge.

If we’re trading with LAD it’ll be a simple deal. Something like Blalock for LaRoche and solid prospect. I’d be happy with that. And while I’d love to have Kershaw, suggesting trades where both organizations move their most valuable piece is kinda silly.

Hamilton...

isn’t going anywhere.

And neither is Kershaw

making this thread pointless.

I think Xavier Nady may have been raded to the Rays

In a deal involving Reid Brignac.

Pure speculation based on Nady being pulled and Brignac not being in the lineup for Durham.

I actually like these threads

partially cause they are so out there. And in all fairness to NYTXFAN he did say at the beginning of these exercises that they would almost all be biased towards us cause we are the ones selling. In most cases I have voted in the category that we would make they trade and they wouldnt. The chisox one didnt help them and the boston ones I dont think I was a fan of either, or one was too unfair towards us.

In this one though not only do we trade a guy who is the focal point of our lineup and controllable, but we take on a massive contract for a guy who isnt even near the mendoza line. I think LA would do this because while it does cost them kershaw, that is one pitching prospect and they get out of the albatross that is jones’ contract. Tough pill to swallow for either teams fans but no I wouldnt do this one.

I'm sorry my parents never had me sarcamsized.

I'm really not thinking of trade matchups

But after thinking about it, and reading as much as time allows, the following Rangers can go.
Salty, Blalock, Byrd, Millwood, Murphy, Vazquez, Guardado, Wright, Laird.

Factors:
Salty is going to be good, never great, and is an attractive commodity.
Blalock may fill a need somewhere, and isn’t overpriced.
Byrd may not draw much interest, but is a good OF’er to replace injury etc.
Millwood still has it in him, but we can’t seem to get it out, and health issues complicate.
Murphy is a pretty good 4th OF’er, don’t trade if JD can’t get about equal value.
Vazquez is a fill a need type, for a contender.
Guardado has proven his recovery, should be valuable to a contender.
Wright maybe would be attractive to a team with a decimated staff or pen.
Laird can definitely be a starting catcher for any team needing a receiver.

Not speculating on who will go, but the OF I’d love to see rostered is Hamilton, Cruz, Boggs, w/Bradley DH and part time corner OF. Apologies to the Murph, Blalock, and Guardado fans. Just MHO.

I agree...

With your list of guys who can go. Except I think you can replace Salty and Murphy with Cat.

4 guys JD should be willing to deal but only if overwhelmed are Board Game, Salty, Murphy, and Padilla.
