Rally cat

Much as the turtles have a special place in all of our hearts, I hereby submit the proposal for the rally cat.

As many of you know, during the 7/25 Rangers-A's game, the Rangers were trailing 5-2 with one out during Michael Young's at-bat when a cat got loose on the field and ran in front of the Rangers' dugout. The Rangers went on to score another three runs in the inning to tie it and then went on to win 14-6 to take over second place in the division.

I'm thinking the team should see about adopting the cat to keep around as the rally cat.

How'd that cat even get there?

I guess I understand how it could get in the stadium, but with thousands of people around, I’d think the last thing it would want to do is tear down through the middle of them and go play in the grass.

The stadium probably keeps it around for vermin control

So it probably got to the field via an entrance that most people can’t get to from the stands.

After the Angels were busted for all the vermin violations, they upped their extermination routine and started cleaning up the trash immediately after the games, and things have gotten a lot better. They also got two cats to patrol the stadium… one ran away, but the other hangs out under the stands and in the maintenance area beyond the outfield fence.

Know what's funny?

My trip to Bakersfield, which involved a two-hour drive, legwork to get the signatures, taking photos, keeping a scoresheet, and a two-hour drive home… 17 recs. This post, which just involved me waiting for mlb.tv to put up the game archive, then fast-forwarding to the fourth inning, hitting “print screen” for a screen shot, then doing give minutes of image editing and posting it… 20 recs.
