The Revolution Will Not Be Televised
And neither will today's game.
Because Fox (the network) has an exclusive programming window on Saturday afternoons, Saturday afternoon games are only televised if they are picked up by Fox.
Fox didn't pick up this game, so it is blacked out everywhere.
Don't like it? Talk to this guy:

question: DirecTV
I want to get the NFL Sunday Ticket. It’s almost 54 bucks a month for 5 months. Does that include HD games or not?

HD on DirecTV
You have to pay an extra $100 to get “SuperFan” in order to receive the games in HD.

how hard is it
really to move the start time back to a night game if it doesn’t get picked up by fox? they must know a while in advance and it’s not like games don’t get changed around anyway as the season goes…
by tangiers on Jul 26, 2008 10:47 AM CDT 0 recs
this includes local TV as well
was a ranger game “blacked out” last year too?

I think...
...the A’s folks think that they are going to get a better turnout for a day game than a night game, and that outweighs the TV issue.

because it seems every year its the a’s game thats blacked out due to them not wanting to move the start time.

That’s my only option anyways.

Nope.
They black it out there, too.

it could have been at 12 or 3
seems like 3 would get more people, the late sleepers and also people can go have lunch then go to the game…

Probably
Most people are off work on a Saturday, so they can go during the day… at night in that stadium, take a good jacket. Ever notice that during weekday night games the crowd is under 15,000 on a consistent basis? Weekend daytime games are their chance to catch up on attendance figures.

Not at all.
Just got back from the game. Today’s crowd was only 500 more than last night’s (20,600 today to 20,100 last night).
The A’s never play night games on Saturdays or Sundays. They should start thinking of doing so now.

Would that even work?
No one is even sending a camera crew to the game. I would think I’d have a better chance than most of getting the game since I’m just 3-4 hours south of Oakland, but no… I get the fucking Yankees and Red Sox. You would never know there were 28 other teams except the Yankees and Red Sox have to play other teams besides themselves.

Yep, it'll work
There is also the issue of the Fox blackout any teams that start at 1:05 (or around) can not broadcast on TV due to Fox’s exclusive window. We can still do those games because MLB.tv creates streams using stadium feed cameras and radio comentary.

Those Republicans loves their monopolies.
Energy policy formulated behind closed doors, your host Dick “oil can” Cheney.
No-bid civilian military contracts awarded by this administration and its rubber stamp congress.
FOX broadcasting gets preferential treatment and un-precedented access for carrying the Bush propaganda messages into the living rooms of millions of americans for the past seven years.
Why should crony Bud Selig be any different, you think he is going to help the average baseball fan? Think again. Conservative columnist George Will (pictured in the background) could explain it all to you in “simple terms.”
