Over the last 20 games
the Rangers have scored 122 runs [best in AL] and have a team ERA of 6.65 [worst in AL]
I did some minor math last night.
If I’m not mistaken, with league average pitching this season, our pythagorean would be 61-45 at this point.
66-40 with league average pitching and defense. And we’re currently playing four games better than our pythagorean.

I may be wrong, but I think you did what I did at first.
And that’s adjusting for league-average ERA. Our defense is pretty sucky, though, so I took the difference between our ERA and a league average ERA and figured out the runs allowed. Essentially, with average pitching and our defense how many runs we’d have allowed.

It was during the 1994 season that he began to use his given name, “Ichiro” instead of his family name, “Suzuki” on the back of his uniform. Suzuki is the second most common family name in Japan, and his manager introduced the idea as a publicity stunt to help create a new image for what had been a relatively weak team, as well as a way to distinguish their rising star. Initially, Ichiro disliked the practice and was embarrassed by it; “Ichiro” was a household name by the end of the season and he was flooded with endorsement offers.

Interesting story for me… I was in the marching band in high school, and the band wasn’t that good my junior year. In the Selma (Calif.) band review, we placed third on our four-band division… fourth was Corcoran High School (Corcoran, Calif.). I later saw video of them… if our band had lost to Corcoran, I’d have had to consider quitting.
