Trade Manny for Hamilton? What?

I live in the northeast and commute by train. Yesterday on the train, some Red Sox fan had the brilliant idea of trading Manny to the Rangers for Josh Hamilton. I'm not a baseball GM, but I'm pretty sure there is at least one good reason the Rangers wouldn't make this trade.

As a Rangers fan, I just laughed at their pipe dream and informed them Hamilton does not know how to do an Irish jig. More than likely, being the beast he is, Hamilton would eat anyone doing an Irish jig.

Sure, we’ll do that deal. Just as long as Papelbon and Buchholz also come back in the trade, and Boston eats half of Manny’s contract.

Hmm..

.. I wonder if Hamilton is enough to get Manny.. I mean Manny has like 500+ career HRs and Hamilton doesn’t even have 100!!! We should probably throw in Chris Davis, Neftali Feliz and Eric Hurley just to make it even.. oh and we’ll give them CJ, but they need to include a 33-year-old AAA reliever to balance it out.

His OPS+ the last few years has been good, not great (105-115), and his fielding is atrocious. Plus, he’ll now be one of the most overpaid players in baseball next year.

MY won’t be traded because of his no-trade clause and because of the PR backlash that all of you jackasses would rain down upon JD, but if I were JD, I’d move him (if he agreed to it), and I’d give all of you the finger while doing so.

... may get it wrong, but boston.com did a photo gallery of people to trade for Manny, and I thought it was pretty funny. They actually lament having given away David Murphy now, because he would have been the perfect replacement.
