Kotchman pulled in LAA, Teixeira very likely traded

per Stark

"Angels first baseman Casey Kotchman was pulled off the field during pregame warmups this afternoon at Fenway Park. And there are strong indications he is about to be traded to the Braves for Mark Teixeira, according to a source with knowledge of those discussions. Details are still being finalized, and additional, lesser names are expected to be involved. But Kotchman for Teixeira is the core of this deal."

Well, this would definitely be interesting.  Given the surely high price, I would like this from a rangers standpoint.  If I were an angels fan I'd probably like it too depending on just how the price is, that team with Tex would move from very good to great.

The Braves

Talk about getting owned.

most likely yes

but lets wait and see if any of the big 3 we got pan out first

Um...

Shit.

Ian Kinsler has finally earned the right to be the third of my co-favorite players.

by utlonghorn24 on Jul 29, 2008 4:50 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

Um...

Why? Unless they sign him long-term, this has no effect on the Rangers going forward.

by N41D on Jul 29, 2008 4:57 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Unless he does to the Angels...

what Jason Kidd did to the Mavericks! Kidd ‘em up, Tex!

So... about the job with the Rangers?

by NoNameOnCard on Jul 29, 2008 4:59 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Because...

This makes the team with the best record in baseball EVEN BETTER. Scary for this year.

LAA has enough money to resign him too, so if they win the Series this year with him, that makes the prospects of him signing a little better there than they would have been.

Don’t get me wrong, I hate Tex after the way he acted. But he’s a damn good player, one which I don’t like to have to face a lot with a division rival.

maybe

he can take down the angels too with his attitude. if all the braves get for him is Kotchman and some lesser names thats kind of funny. it would be even better if he signed with someone else in the offseason.

Maybe best for the Rangers in the long run

Tex to LAA and they win the World Series. Tex gets his championship and then moves on to the highest bidder.

In the meantime, the Angels lose a good, young player and whatever other prospects go to Atlanta. Yes, they get two picks, but that is always a crap shoot

Yea they’ll lost Kotchman but at the same time I could see them ponying up for Tex. If not they still get the two picks in the offseason to offset his loss.

that way they can spend another huge amount of money on someone who dosen’t deserve it. he’s a good player but he not worth the money that is rummored…kind of like GMJ a couple of years ago.

Yea he will probably end up with Baltimore or NY. I would even give the Angels a decent shot at getting him signed.

Admittedly I wasn't active enough to use the #1 anyway.

But I was planning on holding onto the #1 waiver with the hope that someone big would be coming over. I was hoping for Holliday initially, then today Kemp for Manny become a possibility and I would’ve used it on Kemp, but i’m fine with Teixeira :)

Manny

I still don’t believe the redsox trade him in the middle of a playoff run. They’d be wise to keep him and let him walk for draft picks

they could always convert GMJ to firstbase, since they already have that 50 million dollar contract sitting on the bench.

by jas003 on Jul 29, 2008 5:05 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

good trade for angels imo

kotchman is pretty average. tex can put up huge numbers in the AL and they are one of the few teams that can sign him. would give them legit protection behind vlad

by kumizi on Jul 29, 2008 5:06 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

So let em get this straight

None of the teams we would be willing to deal with got Tex? So not only is Bradley the best bat available on the market we didn’t lose any team we would actually deal with …

fine by me

Man you think they could have held out for something better than a AA RH reliever. I can’t even think of someone to compare him to in the Rangers system. Maybe Beau Jones value wise?

Third-order record: 54-51

That’s good for 8th in the AL.

They’re going to the playoffs, but they’re definitely not the best team in the league, and they need to improve their chances of getting through the playoffs.

Far from retarded.

By the time the playoffs arrive,

K-Rods arm will be toast. He is looking very hittable this year.

They needed to improve now to try and win now.
